Are Tanks useless in BG?

I've only played healer classes (shaman & priest)

Just wondering if Tanks are a liability/trolling in BGs or can they serve a decent support role?

Paladin tanks are very good in PvP vs melee classes, warriors a bit less so and the other ones are dead weight more less.

You will need pvp talents and very little tank gear for both prots if you want to do anything meaningful in BGs other than carrying the flag.

Any tank can be useful to be a total cancer when carrying flags or defending bases in AB.
