The best stat balance would be if you go for PvE items that dont have Strength + Resil counterparts.
For example: Neck, Cloak, Ring.
Since armor penetration doesnt give Unholy anything special (atleast in low amounts), there is no need for you to go for items like Coldwraith Links.
With this being said, best itemisation would be:
5/5 Wrath Set
Penumbra / Onyx Neckguard (depending on how much hit you want to go for and how you want to cap it)
Winding Sheets
Wrat Wrist and Belt
Apocalypse Advance
Ashen and Might of Blight / Skeleton Lords Circle Ring (depending on if you want a bit more Armor Pen or Expertise)
DV hc + PvP trinket / DV norm (depending which race you have)
Shadowmourne.
Any other itemisation will result in less Strength + Resilience overall.
When it comes to how much strength would equal to DKs dealing 1% more dmg i think you are wasting your time trying to get that exact number.
You want to get to 1039 - 1100 resilience, and after that get as much Strength / Attack Power as you can.
There is not a choice that will let you be able to gain that 1% dmg increase for nothing, it will most likely cost your resilience.
