Not really. You won't get enough extra SP to make so much of a difference in your DoT damage to be worth it. And you'll be giving up valuable crit/haste in the process -- a bad tradeoff, because spirit only yields 0.3 SP per point.
More importantly, it sounds like you're going to try to kill people primarily with dots, which won't work well. Our dots aren't very threatening on their own and are easily dispelled / healed through. Most of our kills come from our nukes/starfall; dots help maintain pressure, but they aren't the main source of it.
What I’m going for is pretty much a haste/dot build for quick cc casts with no crit talents. Any chance you think that’d be viable for pvp?
i think is a wrong expansion for that. Burst is the name of the game in wotlk.
Outside of "pressure" on multiple targets is worthless. When a melee dot spec like feral druid go for arpen for fight plate classes you can make a idea of the nature of the expansion about dots, they're add damage to your instant, no threatening by themselves.
Our dots are quite weak to be a problem even if you're going to get talents/glyphs for them. As it has been said by delusion, our kills come from starfall/nukes from starfire mostly. Also, unlike fire mage/sp/lock our dots can be dispelled without a care in the world, rendering them useless in most cases.
LE: Spirit gear doesn't add a lot to your spell power, the real benefit from spirit gear is the mp5 you get, which -can- be useful if you're running a double dps team where you have to reset a lot.
