For anyone that's stumbled here from google like myself, THE WOW DIRECTORY MUST BE WRITABLE by USER! The app writes logs, setting configs, etc into the directory that you've downloaded. If it can't, it crashes. And it will immediately upon start try to write out logs and configs.
/rant For the love of god, stop running commands you see posted online if you don't know what they do. The ones here are wrong or mostly wrong.
If you don't know what `chmod` is, use the GUI:
1) Right click the downloaded WOW folder
2) Click Get Info
3) Click the Sharing & Permissions drop down
4) Set "<user> (Me)" to Read&Write where <user> is the mac account name
Boom, done.
I've tested with Group ("staff" typically) set to RO and that doesn't seem to break it, so leave it as is. Since the app only writes to it's own dir, it shouldn't be a problem.
If you know how to use chmod, then you've probably not read this far. If for some reason you have, you want 755 perms, only on the top dir.

Hey so I've done the chmod +x thing and when I try and open the wow file it says it needs to be updated by the developer. Does anyone know what I should do?
