It seems like the hunter pet taunt isnt working as intended. Normally it should force the mob to attack the pet everytime Growl is casted, but it doesnt do anything. The issue is also on the Bugtracker since forever. Is there any workaround for this? I remember there was a time where you had to log out on the Deathknight to reset Raise Dead after using Death pact. Its a bit annoying as i intended to do some serious Soloing on my hunter.
Growl isn't a fixate taunt like tanks' taunt. It simply increases the threat of the pet by a certain amount.
Thanks for the clarification then, it must have been changed in later expansions as i remember it being a fixate taunt on the live servers. Still the pet aggro seems pretty low (tracking with Skada Threat meter) or is that normal?
Pet aggro is bad compared to the player because the damage is similarly bad; so your pet heavily relies on your Misdirection for it's threat.
Tenacity talented pets (bear, turtle, crocolisk, etc.) are built for tanking, giving them an increased threat talent 'Guard Dog' (http://wotlk.cavernoftime.com/spell=53179) and a long CD Taunt that operates the same as any other (http://wotlk.cavernoftime.com/spell=53477).
