Shield discussion

Hi fellow tanks!

I'm new into tanking and wondered if you could help me decide, which shield is the better option. My gear is nowhere near optimal for tanking, but it's a work in progress. Link to armory: http://armory.warmane.com/character/...ecrown/summary

Bulwark is in my opnion overall better and I'm lacking defense rate, why I'm tempted to get it.
On the otherhand Boreal offers 2 sockets and therefore potentially 30 stamina more, with the cost of siqnificant less strength. But I'm not sure whether of the shields I should go for.

I'm aware that there are better options than these two, but I'm using my warmane points to purchase the shields and therefore my options are limited.

I would get the one with bit more defense. It is your top priority, untill cap. But it is more complicated than that... you also have some resilience pvp gear on.. that works for boss crit chance reduction in pve as well. (pve gear with additional defensive stats is better, butresilience could be passable workaround for you atm)


Ultimatelly it does not really matter which of those you choose, you will change either soon.

Yea, I figured that resilience also works for pve and I think I'm almost uncrittable, but ofc I'm changing the pvp pieces as soon as possible. But for now it's the best I have :)

So your are saying the 7 defense (calculated with socket bonus) is better, than having an extra socket and potentially 30 stamina or 20 defense?

As far as I'm informed, I'm not geared for tanking any raids, and getting new tanking items takes so dann long - so I might have this shield for a long time.

The Boreal Guard, the defense difference is only .61, which is insignificant compared to what you can do with extra socket.
