auto-loot doesn't work correctly

i am new here so i'm sorry if this is in the wrong section - i was going to post in the ask the staff section but here i am

auto-loot doesn't work when gathering, and hardly works in general at all - it doesn't loot most items, money or quest items

someone told me this was on the bug tracer since 2016 but i don't know what that is

It's just you. Autoloot is working correctly. I tried that on every character I created, on both WotLK and MoP servers.
You didn't specified your WoW version/expansion, so there is not easy way to help you.
I would start from disabling all addons.
