What are the top 3 1v1 or dueling classes here that are really powerful and bursty?
1 End game shadowmourne unholy dk because win all classes and only lost endgame shadowmourne paladin.(Pala lost most caster classes btw)
2-End game frost mage because win all classes and %50 rogues(End game rogues lose to all end game shadowmourne classes btw)and lose to shadowmourne dk,and hunters.
3-There is not a number 3 actually because number 3 is just like paper rock scissors
1,2.Affiliction Warlock = Frost Mage - with preparation(if you know what you are going to face) AW is stronger,without - FMage
3.Other strong 1vs1classes/spec - Unh DK,SPriest,RPala,EnhShaman,SubRogue(when all cds are rdy)
Uh dk with smourne, High resil Enha shammy and dps geared prot warriors are top duelers in wotlk
there's honestly a lot of factor's when it comes to a 1v1 duel.
PVE vs PVP gear is huge for example.
but if we're taking PVE gear into consideration. SM unh DK or Prot Warrior would come out on top. Maybe Ret but it depends on the person and how well they can play it. (which goes for all classes honestly) Ive seen Rets get absolutely destroyed by Mages/Rogues. and Ive seen DK's get destroyed by Locks. Warriors gets smashed by Shadow Priests.
if we're talking just ability wise, Rogues should technically win every duel due to the fact that they can CC pretty much forever and Have insane burst with either killing spree or Shadow dance depending on the spec. But the game doesn't work that way.
if we're talking Burst. a Ret pally, Warrior or Boomkin can wipe anyone out of a Recount DPS race. but that doesn't always make them the most viable.
A lock can keep someone feared and Max range until target is dead for the entire duel. Same with Hunters.
TL:DR - There is no top X class in PVP. If you can play your class well. You can pretty much beat anyone.
A lot of Classes/Specs can be "best" for 1v1, the important factors are:
1. How good are you as a player?
2. Where are you fighting? In a Duel or World PvP or 1v1 in a Battleground? Depending on where, the amount of "Space" and "Time" you have for a 1v1 will wary, aswell as including "Elements" such as guards, objects etc.
UH DK, Ret Paladin and Prot Warrior are easy to pick up and get good at. The result is you can win most 1v1 fights without a deep knowledge of the classes.
While other classes such as Frost Mage, Feral Druid and Rogue requires a much deeper knowledge.
Top 1, if there is a good place to LoS like a large pillar then Ret Paladin with the proper weapons to swap and trinkets will win. Simply how it is, you don't even need to know that much to do it. I used to do it myself.
This is very true up until you played for years and mastered every single thing in pvp, but by that time you probably have alts allready geared aswell.Quote:

Lets be honest tho. the only reason OP made this post is to find out what the top3 most OP classes are at the moment so he knows what to level for easiest pvp gear purposes. wouldn't be surprised if he posted a screenshot of his character login list. we would only see 3 classes. The first one is the one that does not have a counter, shadow priest. Equally geared and skilled shadow priest kills anyone, no argue with that. Next one has to be frost mage, we all know how ridiculous he is versus melee classes and versatile versus casters. I'd go unholy DK with Shadowmourne as third, otherwise Destruction, followed by ARP BiS protection warrior. To sum it all up:
1. Shadow Priest; 2. Frost Mage; 3. Unholy DK (Shadowmourne) / Warlock; 4. Protection Warrior / Enhancement; 5. Boomkin.
There can be a long debate on how and why others should be on 4th and 5th place, however I did mention some of which should be kept in mind as a viable situational options. Anyway, first three places are the ones that are important for this debate and I firmly keep them there as a part of 12 years of WoTLK experience.
Keep in mind that all this is in case of equal gear and skill, except for plate classes, they need Shadowmourne to compete with casters.
Edit: Line of sight - open field, no obstacles. It would be a little bit different for impaired sight, movement and, in its own way, unfair.
