How good is feral pvp?

So, my main PvE char is a feral druid, so after so much time, i decided that I wanted to try pvp with it, but I'm having some problems with it. I can win 1v1 against people on bg, but rarely I'm able to when I'm out of it.

I'm not totally new to pvp, having already played a little with mage, war, ret and rogue pvp. From the experience I had untill now, for melees, unless you're a god, plates will always win. I played with rogue for a good period of time and to the end of it i couldn't kill my friend Dk, but after 4 week of ret pala, i had a 50% chance of winning against him

So that's where my question come from. If I dedicate myself, will I be able to win 1v1 against dks and rets with a feral cat? Will I be able to get a good arena rating also?

Btw, i created a druid on blackrock to train, so since I'm new, I'm using tier 7 gear right now
