Dropping Professions - will I retain echants?

Hey so i'd like to level enchanting for the ring buffs, but want to know if i'll be able to retain the enchants after dropping the profession?

Was a prev tbc player and can't find an answer for Wotlk.

You wont retain the enchants once you drop it. The enchant will still be there on the ring ( red'd out) but the stats won't get added.

Spending several 1000s gold to powerlevel enchanting just for 46 SP/80 AP/60 stamina, seems a bit try-hardy don't you think?
Come to think of it, a BiS plater with swordguard cloak, blacksmithing's 2 extra sockets, JC's buffed gems, ring enchants and the leatherworking bracer attackpower totals up to... ~430 attack power assuming swordguard is active half the time, lw bracer adds 80 since it replaces the usual +50 bracer enchant.
