If you do Steamvault in Normal 3-4 times you'll get enough nodes to reach 350 BS and move on to Northrend. It's sad we have to do this, but it's what I did during TBC.

As far as I've been able to test, it affects normal monsters. Their respawn time has been reverted to normal, which means several minutes for a couple mobs with low drop percentage.
