Xp should have been x1. with no rdf to boot. vanilla isn't your typical icecream realm.
yes lvling in vanilla is painful, you have no mount till lvl 40, and its only the slow one.

X3 is the best option. x1 is kind slow and x5 and above would have been too fast. it takes about 1 month and a half for a total newbie to reach lvl 60 by questing
