priests were nerfed by blizz since 4.x but still can do some good stuff on ladder (mostly 3s), but ofc if u want to go for R1 you can choose easier healers like sham/monk, even druid is more viable...

maybe ladder is full of them but 80% are scrubs, even some wars at 2.6k mmr are ****ty. just learn how to counter them

ps: bs in 2s is for 1.5k heroes
