Mining nodes (and herb nodes aswell) were modified recently. I would recommend to join a big guild, get Gatherer, wait for others to send their gathers and start checking where nodes spawn, so you go...

I find it faster to do RDF especially if you're tank or healer, queue are instant lots of times for those, for DPS it can take up to 1 hour.
