Deterrence? Not working (LOL).
Pet aggro? Evidently not working, even with the Guard Dog pet talent.
Feign Death to transfer aggro to pet? Sometimes not working, as mobs...

I want a definite answer.

There are no minority classes, only minority specializations. Play a tank or a healer, you'll be useful regardless of the class that you choose.
