The mats are much less expensive. 60ish gold for felcloth as opposed to over 600 just for mats for the ebon shadoweaves (around 900 for already crafted).
This recipe is a boe drop when you kill Jandice Barov in Scholomance. You just need to have 285 tailoring and kill him for it. :) just an FYI for recipe collectors.
