It's already answered a lot of times (and I mean HUNDREDS) that you can only transmog items that you can wear.
In conclussion, no, you can't transmog to other class set because you can't wear...

Most likely. Unless he's a cloth-wearing holy pala or he's talking about different toons, chances are he's trying to transmog cloth appearance to a plate gear.

Their last statement about this is that there are more pressing matters than the transmog disable feature and as such it's being put on low priority

I think you can only transmog fist > fist, dagger > dagger. Other one hand such as mace/axe/sword is intertransmoggable (not sure if that's even the right word)

Was said that Polearms and 2Hander axes/swords/mace are not transmoggable unfortunately. But implied that 2Hander axes/swords/mace are transmoggable to each others
