If you are looking for ICC10 alt runs (meaning you do only first 4 bosses or 6), then you need at least 5.2k gs min for good run. Otherwise it's going to be wipe and big time problem.
People want 5.8k gs because they are afraid of noobs and because it is a pug raid. Getting that gs at least requires you to know some tactics unless you donated for a gear. Or just make your own raid...

OR you can just play better with the gear you have. I'm pretty sure everyone can maximize their preformance and clear more than half of ICC 10 easily in about 5.5k gs if they were really tryharding and trying to play well, but you don't usually see that with pugs and as well: saying ICC is hard on a tuned server is kind of ironic. It is supposed to be harder so that you put time and effort in how you play to beat bosses.
