JC personal gems

Hello, so i tried to Google alot but can't seem to find the information i want. Can Someone explain the jc perk system? Ive heard you can use gems that are slighlty better than the regular ones as a jc. But can i use one of those gems only? Or 1 per different stat type, or 1 per colour? And if so only red, yellow and blue or orange/green aswell? Thank you for your time.

let me give my 2 cents as a jc on outland, do not bother with this prof just for the unique gems, the rep grinds are ridiculous for a miniscule stat boost
The trinkets are cool, if you think they look appealing to you and your playstyle then go for it
but don't just roll this for the gems, they're extremely underwhelming, often consider rerolling prof
