I'll skip all the pleasantries and get right to why I made this guide.
Simply put, all of the guides online assume you're going to be buying all the materials you need.
Also, many of them aren't fit for Warmane's x3 experience rate for professions.
This guide will help optimize your experience in reaching WotLK-tier cooking skill in around an hour's
worth of time, depending on RNG and competition, without having to contribute to the AH's resource inflation.
If you personally know of a more efficient route, you're more than welcome to add your own input.
Additionally, all of the recipes starting from Curiously Tasty Omelette will be bought from the AH.
Typically, each recipe will vary between 2g to 4g. You can also go out of your way to buy the
recipes yourself if you truly want to scrimp on gold expenditure, but realistically you'll only be
losing around 40g on recipe cost, which is a lot more efficient than travelling to each individual
vendor for recipes. That'll take you all over both Kalimdor AND the Eastern Kingdoms.
What You'll Need:

Poached Sunscale Salmon
Nightfin Soup
Lobster Stew
Ravager Dog
Talbuk Steak
Rhino Dogs
Mammoth Meal
Things To Note:
There are no exact numbers in a lot of these cooking recipes, as some of the recipes will turn
yellow before you're finished, and others will turn green. However, by gathering surplus
of each resource, you will reduce the chance of being understocked when you start.
For each of these recipes, I've marked the number you will need as slightly higher than
the amount that I personally used.
The Route!
The first thing we want are actually
Raw Sunscale Salmon,
Raw Nightfin Snapper, and
Darkclaw Lobsters.
The Salmon and Snappers you'll find in a lake called Lake Mennar. To be on the safe side, you'll want around
FIFTEEN(
15)
of any combination of the fish. It doesn't matter how many you have or don't have of the other, so long as the total reaches at least
15.
As for the Lobsters, you'll want at least
10.
This is the only time we'll be in Kalimdor, once you're done getting these fish you can HS back to Dalaran,
take the portal to Stormwind, and begin the full route without much hassle. Multiple 80s aren't necessary.
After reaching Stormwind, follow this route through
Elwynn Forest into
Westfall.
Gather around
12 String Wolf Meat, and follow the route into
Westfall.
Stick to the river initially and kill any Coyotes and Boars you see along the way.
For the Boars, you'll only need around
10 Boar Ribs, but for the
Coyote Meat,
you'll want a minimum of
20 as this recipe can be very unlucky.
Now, we'll fly from Sentinel Hill in
Westfall to the Rebel Camp in
Stranglethorn Vale.
Care should be taken if you intend to take the southern route, as Horde gankers are known to frequent the roads and the area near
the Grom'gol Base Camp. If you don't have enough
Raptor Eggs and
Raptor Flesh after following the western route, tentatively
head east towards the other route and kill any Raptors you find before hoofing it back to the flight path in the Rebel Camp.
For Eggs, you'll want around
18, and for Flesh, around
20.
From the Rebel Camp, fly to Nethergarde Keep in the
Blasted Lands, and follow the route to find
Snickerfang Hyenas. Kill enough of them to get around
10 Tender Wolf Meat. When you're done,
run south towards the Dark Portal. If you're killed by campers outside the portal, just run back and walk through.
Fly west until you've reached one of the three Ravager spawn locations, and go wild until you have around
12 Ravager Flesh.
Fly southwest to Nagrand and kill Talbuks until you have around
12 Talbuk Steaks.
Talbuks often are grouped together, so this can be pretty quick if you've strong AoE spells.
We're finished with Classic+TBC cooking content, and now we'll be moving onto WotLK content, which is much easier in comparison.
Hearthstone back to Dalaran, fly over to the Borean Tundra and get busy killing Rhinos and Mammoths. This part isn't quantifiable,
as the materials will be useful further down the line too, so the more the merrier.
???????
You're done!
Cook the ingredients next to the
Cooking Trainer at the back of the Inn in Dalaran.
Cook ingredients, learn recipes, talk to trainer, yadda yadda.
From here, you'll be doing Cooking dailies to earn
Dalaran Cooking Awards
which will let you buy more recipes once you've gathered enough.
If done correctly, and with minimal interference, this will have taken you around an hour's worth of time.
Maybe the route could be optimized further, but from my own personal experience, the pathing is all
very straightforward, the recipes are all publically available through the Auction House, and requires
very little in terms of time expenditure along with overall requirements. (The biggest barrier to entry being
Flying/Fishing/Flight paths).
I hope this guide proves to be helpful.
