It needs a vignette because people use different resolutions and wide-screen etc.
If you use an image without a vignette it may stretch, skew and lose it's edges etc.

There are so many ****ing good suggestions!! I think there should be 7 pictures, 1 for each day in the week, it becomes more variable :P

Yes it does, black thing on side. So people can view it nicely even on different resolution.

At a note, I do find all those entries so far really cool - especially the unicorns.
