CREATOR OF THIS GUIDE IS NO LONGER ACTIVE.

So you decided to roll a Demonology Warlock. You must really like your pets.....ewwww. Demo Locks are on pair single target with Destro Locks while totally being able to blow the same locks (and most other classes) out of the water for burst AoE. All others will bow to our awesomeness. XD

This guide is a compilation of data from Wowhead, and my own personal experiences.

Talents

Warlock Demonology 0/31/10

Gylphs

Prime

Glyph of Immolate - 10% increase to your Immolate DoT is a must.

Glyph of Metamorphosis - Increases the duration of Metamorphosis by 6 seconds.

Glyph of Felguard(AoE) - Increases the damage done by your Felguard's Legion Strike by 5%.

Major

Glyph of Fear - This one is essential for ALL Warlock specs. Having your CC target stay put instead of run around the room and potenialy grab more mobs is a must for Cataclysm.

Glyph of Life Tap - This one is also essential for all Warlock specs. Faster Life taps mean less time tapping and more time DPSing.

Glyph of Shadow Bolt - Reduces the mana cost of your Shadow Bolt by 15%.

Minor

All of the glyphs here are optional, so go with what works best with your play style and/or preference.

Stats

Intellect - Your primary stat. You want lots of this.

Spell Hit - This is your secondary stat. Aim for the hit cap (1742 or 17% for rading).

Haste - This is your number three stat. This will allow more ticks for your DoTs. Stack this to the haste softcap of 2600.

Mastery - This is your number four stat. You'll receive a slight boost in DPS as this stat gets higher.

Crit - This is your final stat. Pretty much reforge this when avalible to any other needed stats.

In summary, Int>Hit(to cap)>Haste(to softcap)>Mastery>Crit.

Gems

Meta - Buring Shadow Spirit Diamond

Red - Brilliant Inferno Ruby or Brilliant Chimara's Eye if you are a Jewelcrafter

Yellow - Reckless Ember Topaz

Blue - Veiled Demonseye

Every socket should be filled with the Red Int gem regardless of socket color unless the socket bonus is greater than or equal to +10 int per socket. For example if the socket bonus on an item is +20 int and it has a blue and yellow socket, if you were to throw in red gems you would only get +80 int. However, if you use the correct gems for socket you get +60 int, +20 Haste, and +20 Hit. The sacrifice of +20 int to a stat to gain +20 to two other stats is an acceptable trade off.

Enchanting

Helmet - Arcanum of Hyjal (+60 int +35 crit)

Shoulders - Greater Inscription of Charged Lodestone (+50 int +25 haste) or Lesser Inscription of Charged Lodestone(+30 int +20 haste). Felfire Inscription (+130 int +25 haste) for Scribes.

Cape - Greater Intellect (+50 int) or Lightweave Embroidery (Proc 580 int for 15 seconds) for Tailors.

Chest - Peerless Stats (+20 to all) or Mighty Stats (+15 to all)

Wrists - Mighty Intellect (+50 int) or Precision (+50 hit)

Gloves - Haste (+50 haste)

Belt - Ebonsteel Belt Buckle

Legs - Powerful Enchanted Spellthread (+95 int +80 stam) or Master's Spellthread (+95 int +80 stam) for Tailors

Boot - Lavawalker (+35 mastery and movement speed increase) or Earthen Vitality (+30 stam and movement speed increase)

Weapon - Power Torrent (proc +500 int for 12 seconds) or Hurricane (proc +450 haste for 12 seconds)

Off-Hand - Superior Intellect (+40 int)

Rings - Intellect (+40 int) for Enchanters

Pets

Your default pet for single target is your Succubus. Your default pet for AoE is your Felguard. Situationaly, do not be afarid to use your Succubus (for an extra CC) or Felhunter (for an Interrupt) if your group needs it. Remember it is not always about topping the meters in Cataclysm.

Dark Intent

Read MMO Champion's Guide here on the buff. No matter what make sure you cast this on someone (even if it is your pet).

Priorities not Rotations

Warlocks are one of the unusal classes which use a priority list instead of a set rotation when casting. This means that you cast all your DoTd and then spam your nuke refreshing DoTs as they come down choosing which DoT to refresh first based on a priority list. I highly recommend using Needtoknow to help track your DoTs and cooldowns.

Single Target at Range

Immolate
Hand of Gul'dan (whenever off cooldown, will refresh your Immolate as well)
Bane of Doom
Corruption
Spam: Soul Fire (only during decimation proc)>Incinerate (only during molten core proc)>Shadow Bolt (default filler spam)

Start the fight off by casting Curse of Elelments. Then Soul Burn for an Instant Soul Fire cast. Cast your remaining DoTs in order. Spam Shadow Bolt (or the other appropriate spam for procs) and refresh DoT/Cooldowns as needed. Be sure to pop Metamorphosis any time it is off cooldown.

Single Target at Melee

Immolate
Hand of Gul'dan (whenever off cooldown, will refresh your Immolate as well)
Bane of Doom
Corruption
Shadowflame (whenever off cooldown)
Spam: Soul Fire (only during decimation proc)>Incinerate (only during molten core proc)>Shadow Bolt (default filler spam)

Start the fight off by casting Curse of Elelments. Then Soul Burn for an Instant Soul Fire cast. Cast your remaining DoTs in order. Spam Shadow Bolt (or the other appropriate spam for procs) and refresh DoT/Cooldowns as needed. Be sure to pop Metamorphosis any time it is off cooldown.

AoE

Hand of Gul'dan (on the lead target)
Felstorm (Felguard special ability)
Metamorphosis (if off cooldown)
Immolation Aura (Metamorphosis special ability)
Shadowflame (whenever off cooldown)
Hellfire (you can move and jump while this is being cast)

The Metamorphosis and Immolation Aura are not necessary, but will greatly increase your AoE DPS.
