Well, to be fair I am not sure it was ever really working. Before the stuff would only fall in one place, so as long as you stayed stacked and moved together it didn't matter where you ran. On retail you would have to move according to where it spawned. Frostmourne not working is, in my opinion, trivial. If you are consistently getting to that portion of the fight frostmourne is probably not a big concern for you.
