1. In Cataclysm Beast mastery has shown to be great in PvP. It does the biggest damage on PvP of all specs, around 30% more than MM. In this guide I will show how i manage to reduce the disadvantages and maximize the vantages of this spec.

You will also find many things here that can be used to play Marksmanship and Survival, like general hunter movement, how to defend your pet, switch pet in combat, arena tips, crowd control and macros. This knowledge is useful even in other World of Warcraft expansions, like Wotlk or MoP.

This is the written guide, but after the third topic you will see six videos that will help you to understand what is on that section.

    Spoiler: Show
To successfully Burst an enemy the first thing you should do is get your pet near the enemy before start the attack. If the enemy is far away, and your pet is near you, dont start shooting and then send your pet.

Send your pet first (you can keybind Petattack on Pet action bar or make a macro /petattack), when he gets in enemy range start the Rotation, that is explained on the next topic. This is the Burst macro, it will change depending of your race, professions and equipment but the idea is add all your buffs in one macro.

    Spoiler: Show
    #showtooltip Trinket Name
    /cast Roar of Courage
    /cast Call of the Wild
    /cast Dash
    /use Trinket Name
    /script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

Add /cast BloodFury if you are Orc and /cast Berserking if you are Troll. You can also add /use Potion of the Tol'vir or /use 10 that will use Synapse Springs, but both skills should be put as first lines in the macro and it will work on the second click. And remember to put the Trinket as the last line.

The /script line can be below it and it avoid that error messages show up on your screen. Dash and Call of Wild are best used while bursting and should not be in Autocast.

Bestial Wrath is a Burst skill too, but it can be used to remove CC's from you and your pet. So you put BW on another keybind and use when you are CC'd. This is also good to avoid loose all your Burst skills if enemy Vanish or use Hand of Protection for example.

So using BW this way gives you two "CC Breakers" if you already have a Medallion, or if you are Human with the Every Man For Himself racial. Also gives you the option of use two DPS trinkets and using only BW to remove CC's.

To play any hunter spec you will need macros, so here is how you do it. The majority of the macros you will see in this guide are essential, there's just a few ones that are optionals.

    • Check the Macros section to see how you add 18 BM Macros instantly to your character.

    Targeting Tip

Keep your enemy on Target all the time is important for your damage. Some classes can confuse you switching your target, like mages with Mirror Image, and Hunters with Feign Death. To make easier to target the enemy again you can bind the "Tab" key to "Target Nearest Enemy Player" on the Key Bindings menu (Press Esc in-game). This will avoid you to target pets, totens and random npc's while using tab, this way you will target only enemy players with "Tab".

    Spoiler: Show
Ok my pet is in range, now what i do ? Start the rotation. That would be more like a Priority list, with Kill Command on first place and Arcane shot in second, and when you need focus first use Fervor and after that Cobra Shots. Kill Shot of course always you can.

Camouflage (if I could) -> Send pet near -> Hunters Mark -> Widow Venom (for healers) -> Burst Macro ->
Kill Command -> Arcane Shots (2 or 3) -> Kill Command -> Arcane Shots -> Kill Command -> Fervor with low focus ->
KC and Arcanes -> Cobra Shot with low focus -> KC and Arcanes -> (...)

    • Is better keep Bestial Wrath to remove CC's. But if you are not under attack for example, use BW just after the Burst macro

If the enemy is near or if you cant use Camouflage, do a Scatter Shot, apply Hunter's Mark and move on with the rotation. Widow Venon is for healers or for targets being healed. Serpent Sting its recommended for medium to long fights, best time to use it is when Bestial Wrath effect is almoust over, so you will start do cobra shots soon to refresh it. Remember to use Hunter's Mark always you can.

Kill Command and Arcane Shot macros, they keep Hawk On, so it helps to increase your DPS.

You can add /cast intimidation to this macro if you dont want to have a key just for intimidation.

    #showtooltip Kill Command
    /cast Dash
/castsequence reset=2 !Aspect of the Hawk, null
    /cast Kill Command
    /petattack
    /script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

I explain why the Arcane Shot macro dont have the /petattack line on the "Keeping your pet alive" section. The "/castsequence" line its to avoid Aspect of the Hawk noise to sound all the time.

    #showtooltip Arcane Shot
/castsequence reset=2 !Aspect of the Hawk, null
    /cast arcane shot

    Spoiler: Show
Cobra Shot is the choice for a BM recover focus, but you need to use Aspect of the Fox so you can cast it while moving, if you have Hawk active you must stay still while cast.

You must have Aspect of the Hawk active all the time to increase damage, for this we have Kill Command and Arcane Shot macros (posted above). But when you are in a PvP combat most of the time you need to Kite your enemy, this means Hit and Run. So for this we have this macro to make this "switch" between aspects easier.

    #showtooltip Cobra Shot
    /stopmacro [noexists] [noharm]
    /cast Focus Fire
    /cast Rapid Fire
/castsequence reset=2 !aspect of the fox, null
    /cast Cobra Shot
    /script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

After bursting your enemy and consumed all your focus, IF you need to kite your enemy while using Cobra Shots to recover, use this. Try to recover your focus to the maximum as you can, to begin another burst.

If you dont need to kite while recovering, use a Cobra shot macroed with Aspect of the Hawk, so you will receive the Hawk bonus. Yeah, I have 2 keys for Cobra shot, one with Fox, and one with hawk.

    #showtooltip Cobra Shot
    /stopmacro [noexists] [noharm]
    /cast Focus Fire
    /cast Rapid Fire
/castsequence reset=2 !aspect of the hawk, null
    /cast Cobra Shot
    /script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

Rapid Fire is good to use in this moment, so you can shoot more Cobra shots and recover a lot of Focus. Also it gives you haste and more Focus Regen for a few seconds. If you have the herbalism proffesion add Lifeblood.

Focus Fire gives -0,25 sec on Cobra Shot cast, but use this macro on the right time of the "Rotation", because Focus Fire remove the Frenzy stacks from your pet, and would not be good while bursting, he takes +-15 seconds to recover it.

The /stopmacro line avoids you to waste your Rapid Fire if you accidentally use this macro without have a enemy target.

    Spoiler: Show
As a hunter you must stay far from your enemies, so you can shoot. For this you must know how to move when you need to run away from someone, melees of course and even casters that try get close to you and cancel your shots. I will show one way to move, i learned it a long time ago from other hunter guides.

I bind the Strafe Right and Strafe Left on the Keybings menu (Esc) to the keys "D" and "A". The Turn Right and Left options you already have when you Click and Drag Right Mouse Button.

    Spoiler: Show
In my opinion this is the fun on Hunter class, in all specs. If you have enough CD's and you know the right time for using them, you can kite enemies for a long time.

Now you know how to move you must Slow your enemies, so they cant reach you. Concussive shot is the n?? 1 skill for this. Must be used in all enemies that run in your direction, a melee to attack you, or even a caster to cancel your shots. You also have the following skills to kite:

    • Disengage - Best used when you have a lower terrain at your back.

      /cast Disengage
      /cast Wing Clip

This macro will use Wing Clip before disengage IF your enemy target is at melee range, and in front of you. Very useful.
    • Scatter shot - Scatter your enemy and take some distance to use Concussive Shot or put a Trap.
    • Other CCs - Use your web, intimidation, pin, web wrap to take distance.
    • Wing Clip - Can be used on the Disengage macro above, or in a separated key. Useful when the enemy is too close to you to fire an Concussive Shot.
    • Master's Call - Set's you free from movement impairing for 8 seconds with glyph. Use it when enemy is near and its slowing you. This skill can be used on a friendly target or you.

    Ice Trap

If you are kiting multiple enemies or when keeping Concussive shot effect all the time is hard, theres a tactic with Ice Trap thats its powerful and fun. This is also very good to fight Warriors and Rogues because its easier to keep the snare. Also Ferals can shapeshift to cancel your concussive shot, so this is very important to fight Feral druids.

Use Ice trap on the ground, and keep your enemies inside the trap. This seems simple and fool but its not really easy to master it. A video would be the easiest way to explain this.

Of course that use this tactic is not possible sometimes, in a steep terrain or when Rogues and Ferals are affected by Dash or Sprint. So Concussive Shot must be used because of the Glyph effect.

    Spoiler: Show
This is another way of kite, but where you can't hit your enemies. Freezing Trap is the mainly skill, but Scare Beast can be used against Feral players and hunter pets. This is a must for Arenas, and a useful tool in Bg's and open world Pvp.

In arena you CC one enemy, and burst the other, usually the healer is CCD while you kill the DPS, but its not a rule. In Bg's or Open World PVP you can CC healers too, or someone who's attacking you.

The Goal is, take someone out of the fight to get an advantage. You can put a Freezing Trap on the ground or you can throw it with Trap Launcher, there's no macro for Launcher on 4.3.4, the best way to launch traps is using near keybinds, for example i use Launcher on "E" and the Freezing Trap on "Ctrl+E".

A technique that must be learned is the Scatter+Trap (or Web Wrap+Trap).

    Focus and Mouseover

Is very important understand the use of Focus and Mouseover macros, with them you can cast spells in one enemy, while you keep other in your target. You can set Focus on the Interface menu of the game, or with Gladius, that is highly recommended for Arenas.

    Crowd Control Macros

There's tree ways of using CC macros. Find the best option for you.

    1 - Simple Focus macros:
    Spoiler: Show

    /cast [@focus] Scatter shot
    Scatter the Focus target

    /cast [@focus] Web Wrap
    /petattack [@target]

If you have a Shale spider. The /petattack line will keep the Spider on the target and avoid her to attack the Focus Target.

    /cast [@focus] Scare Beast
To easy scare an Feral enemy.

You can also use macros with a Modifier. The macro will change depending on witch Modifier key you are pressing with the macro, Alt,Ctrl or Shift. Change the macro to the Modifier Key you prefer.

    /cast [@target, nomod] scatter shot
    /cast [@focus, mod:alt] scatter shot

Just pressing this macro will cast Scatter Shot on Target, if you press it while holding "Alt" will cast on your Focus. You can change the modifier to "Shift" or "Ctrl"

    2 - Mouse-over + Target macros.

    Spoiler: Show
    /cast [@mouseover, harm] [@target] Scatter Shot
This use Scatter first on your Mouse-over IF you have one, or on Target.

    /cast [@mouseover, harm] [@target] Web Wrap
    /petattack [@target]

    /cast [@mouseover, harm] [@target] Scare Beast
    /stopattack

Use Scare beast on your Target, or your mouse over target. Scare a feral druid, but if he shape shift out of beast form the cast is canceled. So its not useful against Ferals who know this. If the feral is not targeting you the scare have no chance to fail. You can scare pets from Hunters too, scare a Bm pet is very useful.

    3 - General CC macro

    Spoiler: Show
    /cast [@focus, harm, nodead] [@mouseover, harm] [] scatter shot
It will cast first on your Focus IF you have one, or Mouseover, or Target.

    • If you have a alive enemy on Focus, and you wanna cast on Target or Mouseover you will need to clear your focus first. With this macro: /clearfocus

    /cast [@focus, harm, nodead] [@mouseover, harm] [] web wrap
    /petattack [@target]

    /cast [@focus, harm, nodead] [@mouseover, harm] [] scare beast

You can also use macros with a Modifier. The macro will change depending on witch Modifier key you are pressing with the macro, Alt,Ctrl or Shift. Change the macro to the Modifier Key you prefer.

    /cast [@mouseover, nomod] [@target, nomod] scatter shot
    /cast [@focus, mod:alt] scatter shot

If you just click the macro will cast Scatter Shot on your Target or Mouseover Target. If you hold "Alt" and press it will cast on focus.

    Another useful macro:

    #showtooltip Freezing trap
    /stopattack
    /stopattack
    /cast freezing trap

Stop attack so you dont break the trap accidentally.

[SPOILER]To heal yourself or avoid damage there's a little trick a good hunter should do. For Cunning and Tenacity pets you should get Roar of Sacrifice on pet talent tree. For Tenacity pets only there's Intervene. And Spirit Beasts have Spirit Mend. This pet skills should never be on autocast.

Roar of sacrifice and Intervene are casted on YOUR target, so can be a friend, or you. Spirit Mend is the same thing, but can heal the pet too. So for this skills you need this to cast on YOU.

    Spoiler: Show
    /cast [@player] Spirit Mend
    /cast [@player] Roar of Sacrifice

You can use one macro to this two skills because if you switch pets you can use the same key. But to check if RoS is on cooldown add it to the pet's action bar, or to your action bar slots. Because the icon will always show the first skill.

    /cast Last Stand
    /cast [@player] Intervene

Last Stand increase the amount of damage absorbed by Intervene, since is based on your pet's total HP.

You can add /use Mythical Healing Potion to this macros if you wish.

    • Spirit Mend should be used as soon as you begin to lose health, since the healing takes 10 seconds to finish, you can use it again sooner.
    • Roar of Sacrifice can be used always that you are being hit, but is even better when the enemy is using Critical Strike buffs like trinkets and potions, so your damage mitigation will be bigger.
    • Intervene is best used agains Dots (Damage over time spells), it will absosorb all Dots for 10 seconds, but if is a "single damage" skill it will absorb the first one only. The first damage you suffer after using Intervene will determine the way it will work. You must be between 8 to 25 yards from your pet to be able to receive Intervene.

Know the right time to use this skills is important.

Also, since these are Pet skills you can also use them when you are stuned and being atacked (like a rogue's Kidney Shot or a warrior's Throwdown), to reduce the damage taken.

    Pet Switching

This skills are from your pets, so if you have 2 spirit beats for example, you can use Spirit Mend from one, switch pets, and use it again. Or switch to a Shale Spider and use Web Wrap, RoS and Intervene. Thats Great! But how I do it in combat? You can do it in many ways:

    • Under Deterrence effect.
    • During a Freeze trap or any kind of CC.
    • When the enemy is using spells like Ice Block and Dispersion, and during a enemy hunter Deterrence.

You just need a few macros and some practice, with the time will be very easy to do it.

    Macro for call/dismiss pets:

    /cast [pet] Dismiss Pet
    /cast [nopet] Call Pet 1
    /petfollow
    /cast dash

If you have any active pet this macro will dismiss him, if you have no active pet it will call pet 1. Make one macro for each pet you use. You can add pet skills to this macro, so it will cast one of them while dismiss too, you dont need to add all of them this is just an example:

    /cast [@player] Roar of Sacrifice
    /cast [@player] Spirit Mend
    /cast roar of courage
    /cast call of the wild
    /cast terrifying roar
    /cast [pet] Dismiss Pet
    /cast [nopet] Call Pet 1
    /petfollow
    /cast dash

If you feel confortable with pet switching you can add Dismiss Pet to your Deterrence macro too, it will make the switch even more faster, but will only work if you press it while you stand still.

    #showtooltip deterrence
    /cast Deterrence
    /cast [pet] Dismiss pet

    Spoiler: Show
Soon you will notice that some enemies try to kill your pet first, but if you look out for him and use some tactics this will not be a problem. First thing you should do is use your pet in the Passive stance, and in your Kill Command and Burst macros you add the /petattack line.

This way the pet will attack with you always, but remember to send him first always you can. Why dont add /petattack to the Arcane Shot too? Because soon as you notice that a Melee enemy is attacking your pet you will call him with the call pet macro below:

    /cast dash
    /petfollow

Dash should not be in Autocast (Unless you have a cunning pet with Mobility!)

So you call him, heal with Mend Pet, and keep Concussive and Arcane Shots, dont use Kill Command. The pet is passive so he will not attack, but if he does for some reason you call him again. If the enemy "slows" your pet use Master's Call, so you will keep kiting, healing your pet and attacking. If you succeed in this tactic the enemy will probably start attacking you, so you begin to use Kill Command again and the pet will attack too, be ready to protect or attack with your pet a lot of times.

If is a Ranged class attacking your pet is different, call your pet is not worth so what you should do is attack, heal him and try to burst as harder as you can, before he dies you dismiss him and call another pet, or you can let him die and ressurect him if you have a Ferocity pet with Hearth of the phoenix, and after that you dismiss the pet. You can have 5 pets, so if you take care they will never die, unless in unfair circunstances.

Here is a complete macro to defend your pet, this will only give you time to dismiss him and call another one if your enemy really want kill him.
If the pet is dead will revive it with Phoenix or Revive Pet, if the pet is alive will use all defensive skills of Tenacity, Cunning and Ferocity pet's, and also heals the pet with Mend Pet or Spirit Mend.

    #showtooltip Cower
/cast [@pet, dead] Heart of the Phoenix
    /cast [@pet, dead] Revive Pet
    /cast [@pet, nodead] Last Stand
    /cast [@pet, nodead] Cower
    /cast [@pet, nodead] Spirit Mend
    /cast [@pet, nodead] Mend Pet
    /cast [@pet, nodead] Bullheaded

    Spoiler: Show
The best options for pets in 4.3.4 are Spirit Beasts , Shale Spiders, and Devilsaurs.

    • The Spirit beasts gives you more damage and a bit healing with Spirit Mend.
    • The Shale Spider gives you more survivability with RoS, Web Wrap and Intervene. Note that Roar of Sacrifice used in the right moment (when the enemy is bursting), can avoid much more damage than a Heal from Spirit Mend. Also with the right talents and macros this pet wont die easily, so is the best option for when the enemies are targeting your pet.
    • The Devilsaur is good to use on Battlegrounds when your group lack a Subtlety Rogue, Fury Warrior, Elemental Shaman, or a Feral Druid, because of the Critical buffs wich don't stack with Terrifying Roar. It can be used in Arena too if you don't need survivability skills, because this pet gives you no defence at all.

    Secondary Pets
    Spoiler: Show
Birds of Prey (Cunning) and Scorpids (Tenacity) can be used when you know that your enemy dont have Pyrium Weapon Chain, that reduces disarm effects by 50%. So is good at 1x1 duels, where you can check the enemy gear, besides that will be hard to know for shure. Try to disarm after the enemy waste hes Trinket, so you will have a 10 seconds disarm.

Core Hounds can be used to gain the Ancient Hysteria buff, but it haves a long CD so is better only use it for the buff and then dismiss it and call another pet. Since Haste is not the best talent for BM, Core Hounds are better to help your team when they need.

The Shale Spider, and the Secondary Pets are Common and easily found, but Spirit beasts are Rare and the spawn time can be very long (several hours).

    Spirit Beasts locations
    Spoiler: Show
All spirit beasts are the same, they are all Ferocity pets with same skills. Only the appearance change. Check the Spawn points:

Gondria is the easier with a 3h spawn time, Loque'Nahak is the second easier. All the others are harder to find with spawn time around 18h or more.

After tame any rare pet dont dismiss it before relog, you can lose your pet.

Download this addon to find pets, or make a macro like /tar loque and spam it while you fly over the spawm points, this macro will target the pet when he's near.

If the pet is not there when you search for him dont give up! You can camp there if you want and always that you log in you search for the pet. Or wait for a server restart/crash and rush to tame when the realm come back online, usualy they spawm after that.

These are the main skills of the 3 main pets.

    Spirit Beasts (Ferocity)
Spirit Mend - Heals a friendly target (30sec CD)
Roar of Courage - Increase Agi and Str by 549 lasts 1 min (30 sec CD)
Call of the Wild - Increase Att Power by 10% lasts 20 seconds (3.5 min CD)

    Devilsaur (Ferocity)
Terryfing Roar - Increase critical by 5% lasts 1 min (30 sec CD)
Monstrous bite - Reduce healing effect by 8% lasts 8 seconds (5.6 sec CD)
Call of the Wild - Increase Att Power by 10% lasts 20 seconds (3.5 min CD)

    Shale Spider (Tenacity)
Embrace of the shale spider - Increase Agi, Str, Stam and Int by 5% (instant Buff)
Web Wrap - Stun enemy for 3 seconds (30sec CD)
Roar of Sacriice - Player imune to criticals for 12 seconds (30sec CD)
Intervene - Absorbs the next damage to you or your target by 50% of your pet total HP.

    Spoiler: Show
Some other skills are explained through the guide.

Pet buffs - No matter the pet you use, you should have a Devilsaur and a Cat (or Spirit Beast) with you. You can use the Devilsaur and Cat buffs, and switch to the pet you want before a fight begins, in an arena or even in a BG or open world.

Bestial Wrath - Hunter "I WIN" button. Increase damage and removes CC, so can be used as a trinket.

Serpent Sting - Its a DoT (damage over time) and can be refreshed with cobra shot. Good to use on medium to long battles.

Widow Venon - Used on healers or in targets that are being healed, reduce heal by 25%. You can use it before start bursting to a better use, or anytime in a fight.

Tranquilizing Shot - Remove buffs from enemies. Its a must to fight paladins, it can remove Hand of freedom, Hand of protection and Wings. Tanquilize until you remove this effects from paladins. Can be used against any other enemy to remove buffs, if you have some time for this. The skill will be removed is a matter of lucky, so if you wanna dispel a specific Buff you can remove it at the first shot, or can take a few shots.

Feign Death - This makes the enemy lose your target, he will target your pet or any other target around. This also interrupt casts, so its very useful against casters.

Hunters Mark - Very useful. You dont have Marked for Death as a MM. So if you have time use it!
Mark Rogues all the time. You can also mark an enemy when hes far and its not in stealth yet.

Camouflage - Use it always you can, while in camo you can send your pet near the target, and he gets near him, BANG !

Wing Clip - Last option you should use. When all other skills are in CD its very useful.

Track Humanoids - Very useful anywhere, but more in Bgs. You can choose where and when you fight (most of the times). Thats a real war tactic, its even on Sun Tzu The Art of War classic. Many BM hunters rush to some fights that if they had watched the surroundings before, they would avoid.

Track Hidden - You can see hidden players when they come too close of you! If a rogue or feral dont know this, and he gets too near, you will be able to target him, but be fast because they soon hide again.

Flare - Put flare on the ground and use camouflage inside the light, this is the best way to protect from ferals and rogues. Also if a rogue try to Vanish, use flare in the direction he is going, not where he was. If you can put the light on the right place the rogue is all yours to kill. Also flare inside a smoke bomb allow you to shoot who's inside it.

Mend Pet - Heals your pet, and with Improved Mend Pet talent it haves a 50% chance to remove 1 curse, disease, magic or poison effect from your pet. This is very important to fight smart enemies who like to CC your pet.

Intimidation - Stun of 3sec, pet must be in melee range. You can put it on a keybind, but I added it to my Kill Command macro.

Revive Pet - I hope you never need it but keep it at hand in an emergency case. Unless you have Hearth of the Phoenix avaiable is better dismiss the pet before he dies.

    Spoiler: Show

Key bind is give your action bars slots a key to use it. If you click some skills with your mouse while in combat its a bad sign. All of your combat skills should have a key to easy use.

If you are new to Keybinds, start slow. First bind the main skills, and with time you add more keys.

The easier way to do this is organizing your interface, and the keys you use. Try to get offensive skills near each other on your action bars, the same with defensive skills and CCs. I will post here my interface, but it changes from person to person.

You must find the best options for you. The skills you use more put on easy keys for you. Heres some tips to use as keybinds:

    E,Q,R,T,F,Z,X,C,V,B,N,1,2,3,4,5
    Shift Q, E,R,F,Z,X,C,V,B
    CTRL E,R,F
    ALT 1,2,3,4
CTRL+SPACE, SHIFT+SPACE, Middle mouse button, etc...

If you have a mouse with additional buttons you can bind them too. Like gaming mouses.

I use Dominos to customize my action bars, I think it helps a lot, but if you keep your normal iterface organized you are fine too. Shadowed Unit Frames can customize your interface like Health Bars and Target positions.

    Get the best macros instantly

First close WoW. Then paste this file inside the folder:

World Of Warcraft Folder / WTF / Account / "Account Name" / "Realm Name" / "Character Name"

Replace the original file. This will add 18 BM macros to your "Character Specific Macros" section, the macros accessible only by your hunter. Your previous macros there will be lost.

Clean your cache after replacing the file by deleting the folder: World Of Warcraft Folder / cache

These macros are explained in detail through the entire guide.

This is a basic Macro Pack, you can change them in-game depending on what Race you are, what proffesions you have, the Equipment you are using, and depending on your Game-style.

Also you will need to create more Pet Call macros because i added only Call Pet 1 macro in this Pack. And check the"Crowd Control Section" to choose the best Focus macros for you.

Here is the explanation of three macros, the rest of them are explained through the guide:

    /calcelaura Trap Launcher
    /cast Ice Trap

This is used when you wanna lay your Ice trap on the ground. This makes shure that, if Launcher is on, it will cancel it and lay the trap on the ground. Can be used on Snake Trap too if you have Entrapment talent.

    /cast [@target] Charge
    /petattack
    /cast Hunter's Mark

This macro is good to send pet attack and aply hunter's mark faster when a fight begins. But if you are in camouflage for example and you wanna send your pet near the enemy before break the cammo use a normal /petattack macro because Hunter's Mark will reveal you.

    #showtooltip Kill shot
    /cancelaura Deterrence
    /cancelaura Hand of protection
/castsequence reset=1 !Aspect of the Hawk, null
    /cast kill shot

You dont wanna miss a Kill Shot because you are in deterrence, or hand of protection? This is what you need, if you click will cancel this two effects and cast kill shot. But dont click it in any other case.

Macros not included on the 18 Macros Pack

    /cast dash
    /petfollow

Take your pet out of trouble.

    /cast [@partnername] Roar of sacrifice
    /cast [@partnername] Spirit Mend

Put your Arena Partner's or anyone's name inside, will use RoS and Spirit Mend on him, but beware he must not be too far from your pet.

    /cast Last Stand
    /cast [@partnername] Intervene

Will use Intervene on your partner, but remember the Intervene range rules.

    #showtooltip Intervene
    /cast Last Stand
    /cast [@mouseover, exists, help] [@player] Intervene

Intervene on your Mouseover, or on you.

    /cast [@focus, help] [@mouseover, help] [] Spirit Mend
    /cast [@focus, help] [@mouseover, help] [] Roar of Sacrifice
    /cast [@focus, help] [@mouseover, help] [] Master's Call
    /script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

This macro will use Spirit Mend, Master's Call and RoS on your Focus, Mouseover or Target, in this order. Useful for save a friends life on BG's, you can set focus on someone you wish to protect and keep free to attack. In arena you may use a macro with your partners name, so you will not need to Focus or Mouseover him and cast.

    /cast !aspect of the hawk
A macro to use hawk, if you click twice wont cancel the effect because of the !. Use this for cheetah too.

/cast [nomod] !aspect of the hawk
/cast [mod:shift] !aspect of the cheetah

This is a Aspect macro with a Modifier. Change the Modifier key to the best for you, Alt, Ctrl or Shift.

#showtooltip [nomod] Dense embersilk bandage; [mod:shift] Feed Pet
/use [@player, nomod] dense embersilk bandage
    /use [@pet, mod:shift] dense embersilk bandage
    /petfollow

Cast bandage on you, and with a Modifier will cast bandage on your pet.

    Spoiler: Show

This is a basic 1x1 guide. I will focus on the most important things to beat each class. If a skill is not mentioned dont mean it should not be used.

I will give all examples with a Shale Spider, since it is essential to beat some classes, and because is the pet with the most different gameplay. To use a spirit beast is basically use Spirit Mend as soon as you Begin to lose HP.

Use multiple pets is very important anytime, but for some classes is even more, so its not mentioned all the time.

Also, addons to track important skill is essential in my opinion. It is described on Addons section. You can react faster to counter important skills that the enemies will use.

    Rogues
    Spoiler: Show
If you can, camo and stay inside the flare, move the shale spider with "move to" to the middle of the flare with you, to avoid the rogue to sap your pet and atack you, making you waste your BW.
When the rogue stun you to open use web wrap, then Scatter or Intimidation. Move away and apply Hunters Mark (Watch out for Cloak of shadows to reaply it and force the rogue to vanish, and not Just hide).

You can kite over the ice trap, but when He Sprint you must apply Concussive shot, because of the glyph effect. Anyway one slow effect must be on all the time. Use Freezing trap If you wanna buy some time to switch pets or take distance. Watchout for cloak of shadows it can ignore your traps.

Use Roar of sacrifice only when He comes close to you and you cannot escape. Keep kiting and dpsing, If He vanish use flare fast on you. Begin eveything again.

Use a Medallion and BW to break CCs is a good Idea.

    Paladins
    Spoiler: Show
The key is Tranquilizing shot. Open with slows (ice trap or concussive shot) and keep your stuns to when He uses Hand of Freedom or Avenging Wrath (Wings). As soon as He pop one of this skills stun him and tranquilize shot until it is dispelled. It can take several shots or one, anyway use your Fervor If needed.

After that keep the slows, widow venon and serpenting Sting. If you succeed fast enough with dispelling and kiting the pala is dead. If He bubble Just run, try to go out of LoS and come back as soon as it is over.

    Druid
    Spoiler: Show
    Feral

Similar to rogue, kite over the ice trap and save your stuns for when He Dash. Use intervene to absorb his Dots, and RoS when you cannot escape. You can try to scare beast, but If He shape shift in the first one Just give up. Kiting over the ice trap is adviced because they have Concussive shot effect by shapeshifting.

Usually i burst until He goes to bear, and then apply widow venon and serpenting Sting, but can be applied on start too.

    Balance

Ros and Intervene are very important. Try to absorb his dots while you stun him.
Save your BW or medallion to when He tries to CC you and heal.

    Death Knight
    Spoiler: Show
If is Frost i usually just burst at start, If is Unholy or Blood widow venon and Serpent Sting at start.

Use Intervene when hes far away to absorb all the Dots as soon as possible. Keep dpsing and kiting.

When He use Anti-Magic Shell Just use Kill Command and Cobra shots, dont waste your arcanes, dont waste your traps too.

If the DK attack your pet call him back and keep the DK away, dont let he heal on your pet. And never use Snake Trap against a DK.

    Priest
    Spoiler: Show
Absorbing the dots is the key. Try to use intervene when the priest is CCd, so you make sure that will absorb the Dots.
When He use Dispersion (If you already have used your Web, RoS or Intervene) change the shale spider, in addition to the switch you can do in your deterrence.

Try to use your BW or Medallion when He CC you and try to heal.

    Warlock
    Spoiler: Show
Pretty similar to Priest. If you succeed in absorving the Dots at start and againt after a pet switch you have a great vantage.

    Mage
    Spoiler: Show
RoS is the key. Dont use RoS If you are stunning the mage. Use it when you cannot avoid being hit.

Intervene can be used to absorb casted damage spells, Just make sure the pet is far away and when the cast is almoust over use intervene.
If He is coming close to you and keeping concussive shot is hard, kite over the ice trap.

Change pets when He use Ice block too.

    Hunter
    Spoiler: Show
RoS is also the key, especially for MMs. Try to Begin with stuns, and as soon as your stun is over use RoS. Dont let He hit you a Chimera shot without RoS.

Always keep your BW to when your pet is CC'd because he will probably get trapped or scared after your BW is over. Call your pet back If you see a freezing trap on the ground and you dont have BW anymore. If He try to scare your pet stun him.

Change your pet when he use Deterrence too.

If is a BM save your freezing trap to use after He use BW. You can try to hide behind something or stun him and scare his pet .

    Warrior
    Spoiler: Show
You can try to stay very far from the warrior and keep Concussive Shot on him to avoid hes Charge, but if thats not possible Kiting over the ice trap is recommended because you can keep the snare easier. Save your disengage to avoid the Bladestorm. Use your Web, Intervene and RoS when you are stunned.

When He use Recklesness burst hard, is the Best moment. Dont waste your traps while Spell Reflection is active.

    Shamans
    Spoiler: Show
Ros is basically the key. Apply Widow Venon at start and Serpenting Sting as soon as your burst is over.
Save your Medallion or BW to when He tries to CC you and heal.

    Spoiler: Show
    Race

    Spoiler: Show
Human or Orc are your best options for BM but is not a rule. Human because of Every man or himself, so you can use 2 DPS trinkets, and Orcs for Bloodfury, stun reduction and pet damage bonus.
Of course you can play with any race you like, what really matter is have fun.

    Stats

    Spoiler: Show
Stack Agi and Crit in first place. Your critical increase damage for you and your pet, plus increase the chance of your pet's Basic Attack crits and gives you focus with Invigoration. The critical also increase the focus regeneration of your pet through Go For The Throat and Sic 'Em, giving him more damage with Wild Hunt.
While Mastery just increase your pet's damage. So my priority is.

    Hit Rating (until 5%) > Spell Penetration (195) > Agility > Critical > Mastery > Haste

    Talents

    Spoiler: Show
Go for the Troath and Sic'em on MM tree gives you a great DPS boost working with Wild Hunt from Pets talents. Kindred Spirits improves the damage, but if you pet is needing help Improved Mend pet remove CC's and Dots from him.

Entrapment would be a option for someone with trouble to kite, but would be only good for fights against melees. Killing Streak buff have a 1 second duration, and in pvp is very probable that you will miss the time to use it.

Remember to configure you pet skills! Make shure that you put the Basic Attack and Buffs on Autocast, also skills like Monstrous bite, Frost breath, Lava Breath, Charge. You can set Autocast on pet action bars or in the spell book, on the Pet's tab.

Skills like Web Wrap, Call of the Wild, Roar of Sacrifice, Spirit Mend, Hysteria, should not be in Autocast. They are best used on the right moment, so add it to a macro.

If you are using a Cunning pet add /cast roar of recovery to Cobra shot or something else. And if you are using the Mobility talent (and you should) put Dash on autocast, this is not recommended for Ferocity and Tenacity pets.

    Glyphs

    Spoiler: Show
Kill shot, Kill Command, Arcane Shot
Masters Call, Bestial Wrath, *Disengage or Mend Pet
Scare Beast, Feign Death, Revive Pet

    Spoiler: Show
Full Agility gems on red, Agi and Crit gems on yellow. You need 195 Spell penetration to break resistences for your Arcane Shot, so your damage dont suffer penalties. Use Spell Pen gems on blue slots until you reach this cap. Meta gem 54 Agi and 3% increased Critical effect.

    Enchants
    Spoiler: Show

First i will put the best enchants that don't need a proffesion to have it.

Head: Arcanum of Vicious Agility +60 agi +35 resi
Shoulder: Greater Inscription of Vicious Agility +50 Agi +25 resi
Chest: Enchant Chest - Mighty Resilience +20 resi
Bracer: Enchant Bracer - Agility +50 agi
Enchant Cloak: Greater Spell Piercing - +70 Spell Pen
Gloves: Enchant Gloves - Major Agility +20 agi
Legs: Dragonscale Leg Armor - +190 attack power +55 crit
Boots: Enchant Boots - Assassin's Step +8% movement speed +25 agi
Polearm: Pyrium Weapon Chain - 50% disarm effects +40 hit rating
Ranged Weapon: Gnomish X-Ray Scope +800 Att Power for 10 sec or Flintlocke's Woodchucker +300 Agi for 10 sec

But if you can choose your proffesion, like in Warsong, or you are up to lvl up a proffesion to assist you in PVP i recomend Tailoring in first place.Sword Guard Embroidery is the best proffesion enchant you can have.

The second proffesion is optional but if you wanna gear for BG's engineering provides you Nitro Boosts and Synapse Springs. All the other profs (exept gathering profs) can be good. With Inscription you enchant your shoulder, with leatherwork your wrist, with blacksmith you get +2 gem slot, enchanting allow you to enchant both rings.

About Flintlocke's Woodchucker and Gnomish X-Ray depends on you. X-ray gives you around 1000 AP because of Animal Handler and Flintlocker's can give you up to 330 Agi because of the Mail Specialization and buffs like GboK or Embrace of the Shale Spider, wich means 660 Ap and 1% crit.
    Spoiler: Show

The only necessary addon is Gladius, if you play Arenas. I use Dominos to customize my action bars, I think it helps a lot, but if you keep your normal iterface organized you are fine too. Shadowed Unit Frames can customize your interface like Health Bars and Target positions.

    Lose control
is very good to see more clearly when you, your target, your focus or your pet is under a CC effect, also when they are imune to damage. Power auras is good to track important buffs on you or your enemy. All positionings of the addons are personal.

This Story will inspire you on the Hunter's Path, Good luck !

  2. Bump because Cata hunter doesn't get much love. I enjoy my Cata hunter more than any other expansion. Rogues are kinda OP on Neltharion, but that makes for some really challenging and fun fights as you try to kill a rogue with double pve trinkets before he kills you.

One thing I really like about Cata hunter is that dismiss pet only has a 2 second cast, and if you dismiss one pet and summon another you can get 2 roar of sacs. They didn't share a CD in Cata. So if you're not dismissing and summoning a lot of pets in Cata pvp then you're doing it wrong.
