Thanks again for the input now to the points.

" So all in all, that leads me to believe that the concept of male Night Elves being significantly lesser and relegated to household duties is extrapolation, rather than canon."
significantly is actually the point. In most of human history women were indeed powerfull and respected even in feudalistic times but they werent as able to choose their way of live as males were and they did have less rights which is seemingly the same with male nightelfs. A male nightelf does lack a lot of options that females do have.
That doesnt mean men are of less worth indeed in our history women were always worth more than men and thats why men felt the need to surpress and keep them in line. For a society in our world, the loss of males is not a real problem, the loss of females is a real problem at it will have devestating effects on new generations. If you lost 50% of the men you can still have as many children for the next generation, loose 50% of the females and the population will shrink a lot.
So male nelfs dont have to be looked down at or treated badly but they will have stereotypes and take them seriously - men are not meant to fight in nelfen society and they are not meant to rule either. In Nelfen society women are the strong sex. Again that doesnt mean druids arent powerfull or respected just like priests are powerfull and respected but not because of their battle prowess.

So yes. A source, if you please?
Try rise of the horde. The explanation of orcish lifestyle is in the book. While there havent been female units in WC games, if you go for the books women are expected to do just the same as men - fight, hunt, protect. And they do have female leaders like greatmother geya and very strong fighters like Garona.
The main reason female orcs werent used as units is likely just the marketing stuff - killing females in a game is often seen more problematic, besides from a logical state the wcs were invasions and no one knew if they came back and as said a society does need females more than it needs men - one man can sire hundreds of children, record is somewhat about 1000. one woman can only have about 20 children, world record 66. So you guess how much men you need to get the maximum children out of the females. So for the society its wise to throw the men into battle preferably. But again women in the books were never excluded from battle quite a few fought as well and they also were great hunters. Go for Durotan trying to mate his later wife.

However, their society revolves around magic and power.
Its a magocraty - yes magic users are above all others, arcane mages above warlocks etc. But in general noble > common and male > female. You can see this in books and of course in game.
Its not impossible for a woman to rise to high rank and power but its significantly harder to do so then it is for men. Again belfs are basicly trying to be the opposite of nelfs - nelfs are matriarchical belfs are patriarchical nelfs were ruled by women belfs were ruled by men. The highest ranking nelfs are with the exception of malfurion female and the highest ranking belfs are with the exception of liadrin male.

Their kingdom isn't exactly united either
That is totally true but they are united in their experiences and suffering - they will work together and have a quite patriotic and nationalistic view. Yes they have infights but farstriders and bloodknights will unite when just anything is upt ot hurt the belfs. Like siblings that have their quarrels. The farstriders would never betray the bloodknights as example.
