1. Asking the Pros

How do you beat skilled Resto Shaman / Feral Druid in 2v2 as skilled Ret Paladin / MM Hunter?

We almost never beat skilled Feral Druid / Resto Shaman in 2v2 as Ret Pala / MM Hunter.

Is there a way to beat this comp or its just impossible?

We are skilled but we have a hard time beating it.

Any ''Pro'' has some tips to share or a solution for this?

    Btw its Cata expansion.

  2. Pray for well timed cc and burst, probably killing feral.

  3. Dish out SLT fast enough, hope for a good momentum to switch. gg cya rshams can't handle a hard switch if played right.

To beat that comp you need to step back and get an idea of what makes shamans so good in cata and how feral druids dps works.

Shamans biggest strength is earthshield, which can only be cast on one person at a time. Shamans also have a instant heal and the ability to run as they get heals off with lots of slows and kiting in between. As for the feral most of his dps will come from him in cat form, where he is alot squishier.

To counter this you must force the shaman to switch who gets earthshield often and never chase the shaman very far if the druid is in cat form, ideally a winning arena match for you will involve using line of sight to force to shaman to stay in repentance/freeze trap range to heal the druid, switching between targeting the druid while he is in cat form and getting him around 35-40% usually at this point the shaman will make sure he has earth shield on the druid then you switch to the shaman and force him to run/drop earth shield on himself.

This is the important part that really will determine if you win the arena, while switching back and forth you want the pala to save his burst and just make sure he keeps you both healthy with wogs etc and gets his self buffs up so he is ready to burst until you blow a few of their cooldowns like trinket(most important) natures grasp from the druid so he cant insta cyclone and the druids frenzied regen(hardest to get) if you can, pala/hunter have little to no healing reduction like a warrior mortal strike so the burst timing is important. the druid should be like 50-60% hp now while you dps the shaman and force him to cast earthshield on himself. The pala should cast repentance here and immediately burst the druid and be ready to hammer of justice the druid hopefully before he goes bear while this is happening the hunter is dpsing the druid and getting ready to cast freezing trap as the shaman comes out of repentance and just blow the druid up ASAP.

Depending on who is more tanky you can try this same strat but just switch the shaman and druid so that you can fear pet/trap druid(cant repentance in bear/cat maybe save rep for when he comes out to cyclone) and just burst the shaman down while the druid has earthshield/is cced.

It's really important to cut their damg ability by targeting the druid in cat as much as possible since that's really their only source of damg until they blow a few cds and have the pala focus on using his holy power to kite/heal/generally survive until you are in a favorable position.

Best of luck! and remember to have your pala use blessing of sacrifice to keep from getting CCed and hit those earthbinds they have a 15 sec cd!

Kill Target will Likely be the Feral on a swap, around the time of a spirit link. If done well, the restoration shaman would only be able to save him after using serious cooldowns, and on low health himself. This opens the door to a second swap.

    Tips for Ret Paladin:
-Save Art of War Proc for Feral's Bear form after link (during your burst).
-Be sure to cleanse the hunter because he will need master's call for the kill.
-Don't **** up your WoG timing.

    Tips for Hunter:
-Feign Death when GladiatorLOSSA shouts "Predatory Swiftness", to clear the feral's focus and hopefully cause his focus macro to default onto the ret, ruining any rip on him.
-Feign Death Right before you Fear the feral, so that it does not show up in his focus castbar.
-Blanket silence before the ret's stun.

All in All, I'd say the strategy is to Control enough to force a link Quickly, leading to an easy head-start on swapping to the feral. Then the ret should be using his magic hits (hammer of wrath, judgement, exorcism) to break through bear form armor.

  6. In my opinion start of on druid and let shaman ES him after that scatter trap (IF he trinkes hoj) and hard switch on rshaman before he puts ES on him,and make sure you kill link fast enough.

always have a trap that knocks back just in case so the druid can't enter.

    TL;DR

Good timed CC and hard switch to rshaman.

  7. always have a trap that knocks back just in case so the druid can't enter.
This is cata we're talking about.

  8. -Feign Death when GladiatorLOSSA shouts "Predatory Swiftness", to clear the feral's focus and hopefully cause his focus macro to default onto the ret, ruining any rip on him.
    .
I forgot that people here like Jugger have an addon play the game for them.

  9. In my opinion start of on druid and let shaman ES him after that scatter trap.
GL doing it vs defensive rSham+ stealthy feral with brain.

  10. In my opinion start of on druid and let shaman ES him after that scatter trap (IF he trinkes hoj) and hard switch on rshaman before he puts ES on him,and make sure you kill link fast enough.
Pretty much this,I've achieved 2800 as ret/hunt on warsong and I have to say I've never lost to feral/Rsham.
Force trinket on shaman, hard switch hoj and gg..or if the shaman doesn't trinket the trap/repen..hoj feral/silence sham (feral won't trinket the hoj 'cause they think they're immortal with barskin) and one shot the feral.
