    Unreal GS requirements ?

    Hello,

So basically I'm new to this server and I was wondering why there's unreal GS requirements for simple raids? /global is filled with 5k+ for VOA and ToC. 5.6-6k for ICC, how are you even supposed to get gear for that if you haven't already cleared it?
It makes no sense to me because I remember clearing ICC with roughly 5.3k gs and 11/12 heroic with close to 6k.
I hope anyone can shed some light on this matter.

Just find friendly guild and it will be all alright, i remember in Dignity on icc 25hc, we had 5k gs classes like combat rogue or ele. you can try rolling class that is must have in raid for buffs :)

How can you tell if someone is experienced or skilled by whispers from global? You simply "trust" people you've never seen?
5k~5.2k GS is enough for ICC 10 Normal, provided the person has proper talents, proper gemming/enchants, and proper knowledge of his class and encounters. The thing is, it's not easy to find these kind of people on global (and again, how do you know if they're good or not?) so naturally the best option is to ask for overgeared toons. When you do that, higher the chances the people you invite are not too bad, because technically there is proof they have experience (their gear and achievements) and the overgeared toons will usually compensate their lack of skills and knowledge. Of course they will pull less DPS/Healing than they should (let's say you get a noob 5.8k Hunter), but it's the equivalent of a 5k GS guys that knows what to do and it'll (probably) work out well.

Basically, you don't know anyone from global and it's easier to trust and invite overgeared toons with achievements than "enough-geared" toons for your raid. And if it's relevant, don't you think it's just Molten or private servers - it happens on every patch of every expansion, at least from WoTLK onwards.

@ dotgodx It's not about me finding a guild, I'm wondering why these requirements for raids are so messed up. Gearing up is easy, just takes sum time :)

@ Jiijiiji That's kinda what I was afraid of :/

It's really not that unrealistic, especially when you consider probably more than half of molten have ilvl 284 weapons, which is a significant gs boost. Also, leaders will usually invite people within about 200 gs of their requirement, so 5.6k for icc becomes 5.4k, which is typical for a 25n, and 5.4k which becomes 5.2k for a 10n. Generally, 5.2k pugs pull around 5-6k dps in icc even with the 30% damage buff, so they rely on the high gs people to carry, then the low gs people gear whore like crazy. So it might suck being a 5k gs pug, but it also sucks being 6k+ and having to constantly lose gear to 3.5k pugs who need on wrathful items in VoA for the gearscore.

@ Jiijiiji That idea is quiet stupid cuz i was once in a raid of 5.8k+ people with lk achivment doing icc 10 and they lost @ Gunship and had to Ro after they wiped for the 6th time cuz none of those overgeared *****s know what to do! The only thing people like that are good at are buying more gear with coins and get carried by friends for achivments. btw a group of 4.8ks have done till bpc far as i know.

Your inability to read and interpret amazes me. "When you do that, higher the chances the people you invite are not too bad" means, statistically, you have higher chances of having a successful group when asking for overgeared toons than asking for enough-geared toons. It doesn't mean that every raid you have 5.8k people is gonna be good.

Just because once you were in a raid with 5.8k people and they failed @ GSB and r.o it doesn't mean I'm wrong when I say most of the successful pug groups are made of overgeared toons rather than enough-gared ones, regardless of skill.

Therefore, that idea is not stupid.

People mostly suck and look for other people that can carry them. Sad but true.

Gearscore and Achievements compensates for the lack of "skill" especially when making pug raids.

Its how things are - adapt to it.

Once you get over this "gearscore issues" and find a decent guild to raid with...
you might start to see why things are this way and why its rather "reasonable".

I get that there's going to be a lot of terrible players on the server because it's a private server. It is kinda what i expected and feared, but guess I'll just have to deal with it. I still puke when i see 5.4k+ or even just 5k+ (which is common) for VoA tho..

There is only one question from me : "how can i get achiev for link it if i can't get invite to raid without achiev?"

You don't need achievs for ToC's. Hell I even joined my 4.3k gs dk on VoA25 (got t10 hands - yes, uber lucky) and later with 5k gs to icc10n with no achievs and did well. It's just about how willing you are to get as best as possible gear from low requirement raids - and how much luck you got on rolls! :)
Also once you hit 5k gs, you can make your own raids. (VoA/ICC10/ToC's), and get people with achievs even tho you don't have them.

Say you're 5.1k gs. You make icc and ask for 5.3k+ and achiev. If someone complains about you not having achievs just say that it's your alt and that main got them ^^
