(warning: My english will make you cry....... A lot..) Hello I am Malygos, And in this topic I want to show you a guide how to get your own army on Frostwolf. :D
First of all. I am from the Netherlands and I'm not good at English grammar. So no Hate plzzz. let's get started.
I'm gonna show u 7 diffrent items that summon minions to fight for you. (2 of them are from market place)
The First item is the 'Bassalt Rockling'. The item will summon a big rock monster to protect you for 20 minutes. (http://www.wowhead.com/item=49765/basalt-rockling) It drops from an elite mob named: 'Balboa' in Aszhara. Balboa has a respawn time that ranges from 8-15 minutes. This is an one use item so you have to collect another one after you use it. Check images for more info. (my zone map is a bit weird sorry about that)
Next is the Trinket 'crate of kidnapped puppies' (http://www.wowhead.com/item=86570/cr...napped-puppies) that drops from a rare mob in Kun-Lai Summit. The mob we looking for is Borginn Darfist. He's a lvl 88 elite. This trinket will summon 5-6 puppies to protect you for 10 minutes. The drop chance is 20%. Borginn has a respawn timer around, Half hour - 2 hour.
the third one is a trinket that drops from a elite mob in the Jade Forest. The trinket is called 'Martar's Magnifying Glass' (http://www.wowhead.com/item=87780/ma...gnifying-glass) that does drop from Martar the Not-So-Smart. He's level 86. It will summon Martar the Not-So-Smart to fight for you for 10 minutes. He's respawn time is 5-10 minutes.
Number 4 is a trinket (again ;)) called 'Terracotta Fragment' (http://www.wowhead.com/item=86572/terracotta-fragment) that drops from a rare in the Valley of the four Winds. His name is Jonn-Dar. His respawn time is the same as every other pandaria rare. Half hour- 2 hour. The drop chance of the trinket is only 14% (I got it on my first kill on my both horde and ally char because I'm a lucky bastard). Jonn is a level 86. If you use the trinket it will summon a Terracotta warrior to fight for you for 10 minutes and has a 1 hour cd like every other trinket in this list.
Number 5 is another trinket from a rare in Valley of the four winds named: Nasra Spothide. She drops the trinket called: Seed of Tranquil Growth.(http://www.wowhead.com/item=86587/se...ranquil-growth) This trinket will summon a Tranquil Spout to Heal you for 10 minutes, But on warmane this does not heal you but it fights for you instead of healing. The drop chance is 20% and her respawn time is half hour-2 hour.
The final 2 items are only able to get at the market place at the moment.
first one is Antique Cornerstone Grimoire. this is a held in off-hand that does drop from Onyxia with a 7% drop chance. But you can get it from the market place for 17 points or 2-3 coins. It wil summon a Skeleton that will protect you for 1 minute with a 15 minute cd. You can also get this one which is almost the same. (http://www.wowhead.com/item=13353/book-of-the-dead) I got both of them because I'm a huge toy collector in wow.
second and last is the trinket that drops from a rare named: Rattleskew. The trinket is called: Captain Zvezdan's Lost Leg. (http://www.wowhead.com/item=104321/c...zdans-lost-leg). The rare is on the time-less-ilse so you can't get it at the moment. The only way atm is to buy it at the market place for 16 coins. Very expensive, Only buy this if you are a hard-core toy collector like me. It will summon 3-4 pirates to protect you for 10 minutes with a 1 hour cd

but but do they level up with you? i mean, what is tge level of the defenders, or they are just for rp/lolz?..

There's more u can add the Barov trinket which is not obtainable I think.

They auto match you level, so if your lvl 90 your army will lvl 90 to

they match your lvl and their attack on players is around 5-8k each hit (on lvl 90) so you can use them in pvp (edit: the pandaria ones have around 500k hp)

what about those stormcrabs from archeology? it spawns like 100 of them or whatever and they hit hard , 2k each i think
even seen some guy use it in the arena :s

A little update on the topic. I found a few more fun and useful items that you can use in pvp and pve
First is a trinket called 'Dynasty of Steel' (http://www.wowhead.com/item=86576/dynasty-of-steel). This item drops from a rare in Valley of the Four Winds.
The mob is named: Nal'lak the Ripper, He's a lvl 86 red mantid/bugman. He has a respawn timer around half hour-2 hours and the drop chance is 20%. Please note that he is in a active questing area so he's a little harder to find . This trinket will summon a whirlwind of blades to fight for you for 10 min with a 1 hour cooldown.
Next is a pvp/pve item that drops from a rare in Kun-Lai Summit. His name is Ski'thik. The item that he will drop is called: 'Rod of Ambershaping' (http://www.wowhead.com/item=86577/rod-of-ambershaping). The item is a CC item and very powerful in pvp and pve. Its almost the same as a hunter freezing trap. It will Encases the target in amber for 1 minute. The item description says that it doesn't work on players but this is warmane so it will work on players tho. (I don't now if it will change after update). So if you need extra CC this is the item for you ;). Ski'thik spawns near the horde pvp vendors so be careful if you are ally. The item has a 15% drop chance and a 5 min cooldown after you use it.
