Technical Mac issues

I am unable to even start the game, and I was wondering if I missed anything that I have to change in the files to be able to play.

What I've said before:

Alrighty. I found the issue. For some reason, the executable was labeled as a text file. So I'm going to need your friend to open his terminal and type in the following command: chmod +x, then before pressing enter, right click World of Warcraft > show package contents > contents > MacOS and drag that World of Warcraft into your terminal next to the command. Then hit enter. This should convert the text file into an executable file and let you run your game.

I tried to do that and now I just get, "The application “World of Warcraft” can’t be opened."

When you look at the file inside contents and MacOS, what is the file type?
