Gearing up PvP wise isn't difficult.

Get your Ashren ring (Ideally, make your own group and reserve BoE and get yourself 1-2), make yourself a fos group, then forward onto PoS and farm it, or do FoS if you need a specific item from there. Your GS should roughly be around just below 5k.

You should be fine to do BGs then, get yourself 10 games of arena per week and do Wintergrasp and do the weeklies, it takes time but it's not impossible and it doesn't even take that long.
