1. how to know how much damage an ability is gonna do?

im trying to make an excel calculator, but i cant figure out why the damage im calculating is so far off.
im using the website wotlk.datdmg.com and for some scalings theyre right, but for some theyre way off.
also for some theyre right about the tooltip damage, but for the actual damage theyre wrong.
is there a better website for this?

also how much armor does the big target dummy have?

  2. Those are just formulas taken from game client not even including talents. The most trustable source for correct formulas are Simcraft's files. There are still few incorrect formulas, but simcraft is the way to go.

by simcraft you mean rawr? or is it a different program?

  4. They are different programs, but they are very similar. You can check out the Dr. Damage addon. I think it would be better suited for the sort of thing you're looking for.
