WotLK Leveling spec

So I'm coming from a prot warrior and this is my first mage, though I've leveled rdps before. A lot of guides say I should level as frost but so far it's really weak. I can't take on more than one mob and even with only one killing it takes half my mana and quite a lot of time. Has anyone leveled as fire? Is it easier?

Frost gets much easier/better at about level 40-45. It was really slow for me in the beginning too. I can't imagine levelling 45+ as fire, the Ice Barrier from frost it too helpful. The procs you get also make for quick kills.

i know this is 1 week old but anyway when i was leveling my mage i was having a hard time at low levels even with heirlooms, once you get fingers of frost and brain freeze it gets 10x easier i also got glyph of eternal water when i got the water elemental at the time i think it was doing 30% of my total damage and i didnt miss the freeze at all
