1. Forum Event - Legendary Weaponsmith

Welcome to the 2016's Forum Event: Legendary Weaponsmith!

This event relies on our user's creativity in designing their own Artifact Weapon with visuals, theme, special powers and story behind the weapon's existence.

    Event Rules:

    • The artwork must be original. Copying artworks from the game won't do good. To be fair with people who aren't artists, they may use arts from other games, but that isn't as much valuable as an original art;

    • Weapon name must be World of Warcraft-like, meaning that Doom's Doomray of Doom isn't a fitting name for this event. The NPC who used to wield it, should be original as well, may even be one of the player's characters name;

    • Create a story for the weapon. No Artifact Weapon is Legendary without a good story behind it. Tell who wield it first, when, for what and where it has been lost, according to the legends;

    • Special Powers. Pick a theme fitting the class and specialization the weapon would be for. You can explain some divergences with the story, but a weapon for a Rogue that throws fireballs would be hard to justify, for example. Also, make sure to create a realistic item. It's meant to be powerful, but also something that could be in the game without wrecking the balance. Absurdly powerful items will just be disqualified and not considered.

    Event Rewards:

The best designs, elected by the Staff will win the following rewards:

    • Forum Reward: Forum Title "Legendary Weaponsmith";
    • In-game Reward: one specific transmogrification of choice + item (except Legendaries).

  2. OO man this looks as bad as me becoming an artist ahha but here it goes.
    http://imgur.com/a/BjmNx
    Informations:
    legendary one hand mace
    1350 DMG
    1.1 Attacks per second
    *equipping this mace you gain:
    +150 agility
    +180 Stamina
*When Target is dead you gain extra 200 agility for 10 seconds.
*Every successful attack has a 45 % chance to hit the target with lighting bolt dealing 500 dmg and charging the weapon with lighting. After charging it you can unleash it to the enemy to strike them with lighting dealing 1500dmg.
*Allows you to summon a cloud as a mount.

Story:Story tells of a man who was abandoned by his family when he was a baby.Gods found him in a basket in the river and saved him. They raised him and made the most powerful mace in the world called Mjolnir just for him and with that hammer he became a DemiGod who had the power of lighting in his hands. That hammer was so powerful that even some Gods were afraid of its power, so they said to Thor ( wielder of the hammer ) to put it in a stone where it can be sealed away.Maybe the hammer is still there ?

Hope its not that bad hahahaha ")

  3. Now before I go up and submit anything, is this going to be World of Warcraft themed? Because if it is, while I will not outright copy, I might use some warcraft artwork elements (such as symbol, runes etc. Runeblades without proper runes are just ridiculous you know...) as inspirations and to support the story behind it... because after all, it needs to connect to the universe.

    Also, what's the time limit?

  4. January 1st.

You can get inspiration from any game including World of Warcraft, as long as you keep the style.

  5. Can I make a shield?

Also, as far as scoring goes: if i'm a truly ****ty artist, like I can barely do stick figures, will a personally made image still count for more points than 1 from another game? Everything else would be unique.

  6. Spear of Llane
    http://imgur.com/a/TeF3m

Origin: Llane the Wanderer was a man of great wisdom and prowess. Alive a millennium before the late King Llane Wryrn from whence he got his name. Llane was an individual who feared death yet searched for it. Travelling on either his mounted steed or his weathered ship; he tested his skill against man, beast and spirit. His death is unknown but his spear eventually found it's way to Stormwind in the hands of a fisherman, who found at the place now known as Westfall. His story is now told to children to inspire and to illustrate logical restraint in their pursuits.

  7. Gurk’s Chicken Launcher

I present to you Gurk’s Chicken Launcher.

Gurk was a Goblin Engineer who lived in Gadgetzan many years ago. He was a bit of a drunk, and he didn’t like chickens. They kept pecking at his Cobalt Bolts, knocking them off his workbench and more than once he suspected them as being the cause of his missing Arclight spanner. They made a mess wherever they went and one day it came to a head. He had had enough. After all, you can only push a man so far before he can take it no longer.

Gurk went to the drawing table and worked feverishly for months, constructing plans for his newest invention. It was to be a hand-held cannon, or rifle, which instead of launching Mammoth Cutters or something else you might expect, would instead launch live chickens. There were numerous obstacles.

First, he had to figure out a way to prevent the chickens form being destroyed the moment the weapon was fired. After all, if they didn’t stay in one piece they wouldn’t do much damage to an enemy. This had to be done with some finesse. Luckily, he knew a druid who was living in Silithus at Cenarion Hold at the time who happened to be a talented enchanter. Being a druid, he was attuned to nature enough that he could imbue one of Gurk’s Mithril Tubes with a healing enchantment that would preserve whatever was inside it.

Next was the challenge of accuracy. It would do no good at all (except in thinning the number of chicken in Azeroth) to simply launch them about willy-nilly. If he wanted his new weapon to do any damage it had to be accurate. This he could overcome with an abundant supply of chickens and a stupendous amount of testing. After a few days and a lot of calibrations, he was able to not only launch a live chicken from his hand cannon, but also able to hit what he aimed at.

Now you might be thinking, “sure but wouldn’t it be better to just use a regular old Dwarven rifle?” No, it wouldn’t. You obviously have no sense of humor and you don’t know Gurk’s savage hatred of fowl. Not only that, but the thing is dead useful. You see at that time chicken were just all over the place so he didn’t even need to pack ammo. Just scoop up a nearby chicken and go. It was dead powerful too. If your enemy wasn’t killed outright, they would be at least wounded slightly and covered in feathers. That would just suck.

    Spoiler: Show

  8. I..... thought we were going for a cool, not absurd weapon?

  9. Can I make a shield?
Yes, of course. Feel free to be creative. Just no machine guns, grenade launchers, nukes, etc. We'd prefer to have an item that would classify as one of the weapon types in wow (you can include glaives and other items that could be realistically included in the game).

Silly ideas are welcome, too, of course. Like Chao's post above mine. Be creative!

Also, as far as scoring goes: if i'm a truly ****ty artist, like I can barely do stick figures, will a personally made image still count for more points than 1 from another game? Everything else would be unique.
Yes, there are bonus points for drawing, painting and using paint/photoshop/etc. to "hand-craft" an image from scratch. If you're not great at those sorts of things, then invest in other areas of the contest where you are stronger at it, like the story telling for example, or ability design.

  10. If you don't kill them with chickens, you'll kill them with laughter.

  11. Oh this sounds awesome !
    Working on it ! :)

  12. Name:
    Umbrafel, Scourge of Souls
    Intended for Death Knights

    Image:
    https://gyazo.com/dea88f67bb6c56fde681a870d6ec39ce

    Description:
Bordering close to a manifestation of madness itself, Umbrafel was named thus for it's vitriolic grasp on the foe of its wielder. (On occassion, even the wielder itself.)
Enchanted by the lich himself, Kel'Thuzad, the woeful magic placed upon this scythe induces pangs of hysteria and frenzy to any who bear a shadow of doubt within their minds. A trait that the Lich knew would be abundant among the ranks of false zealotry within the Scarlet Crusade. He intended this instrument of despair be wielded in the thick of battle by only the chiefest of his lieutenants.

    Story:
Following the tidings of Saidan Dathrohan in Strathholme, (not the Culling) the Dreadlord Balnazzar kills and possesses the Grand Crusader. Malicious and manipulative in his attempts, he uses the guise of Dathrohan to corrupt Renault Mograine. With the son of the High Lord corrupted and succumbing to Balnazzar's bidding, he murders his father in grotesque fashion. Balnazzar then uses Dathrohan's guise to consolidate his regime, the Scarlet Crusade, in the ensuing pandemonium.

As Kel'Thuzad strengthens and raises the army of the Lich King, Balnazzar gifts the soul of Saidan Dathrohan to the Lich as he needed only his corporeal body. A fine prospect to tinker with, Kel'Thuzad uses the ardent soul Dathrohan to entertain his entropic jests. Desiring to give his own necrotic legion a sort of identity, he taints the Dathrohan's soul and imbues into a scythe fashioned by The Cult of the Damned. A tool fit for reaping sorrow and desolation, the same fate befallen to Saidan Dathrohan. Kel'Thuzad endows his finest and favored Death Knight (unnamed) with the scythe.

Succumbing to the morbid and shadowy nature of the chaos he deals countlessly, the Death Knight fittingly names his most precious weapon: Umbrafel. Upon the fall of The Lich King, many of his ranks are freed from enthrallment, the Death Knight included. Fearing that he would be persecuted by the forces of The Ashen Verdict, he went into hiding deep within the cavernous bowels of the Storm Peaks. Above his own life, he feared he would lose Umbrafel, his only means to a legacy. Ironically, it was this fear itself that Umbrafel sensed. Scoffing at what the Death Knight had been reduced to, the Scythe manifests itself into an adventurer wielding Umbrafel. Donning the Death Knight's worst nightmare and machination, it endlessly haunts him; his agonizing screams muffled deep within his hollow refuge, waiting for someone to put him out of his misery....

    Special Ability:
    Umbrafel holds the power Nemesis.

In the thick of battle, Nemesis seeps inside the minds of nearby enemies and brings out their deepest, darkest fears into illusory manifestations.
Effect: Nemesis manifests the illusory fears of up to five enemies within a 7-yard radius. Each manifestation deals a portion of the damage dealt to the current target to its respective host. This effect has a chance to activate for 30 seconds once the current target falls below 70% health, fearing for its survival. This effect has a 1.3 minute cooldown.

    Thank you all for reading!
(Note: Pulled most of the story from the actual events of Warcraft 3/World of Warcraft but just added in my own story relating to the weapon
wowiki was super helpful for getting my facts straight.)

    Story:
Aehouqlul Kuelang was a man like any other, although he always knew that something was different in him, until one day he discovered that he has been given God’s gift- being the protector of Earth.
Because he was a painter God gave him a creative looking sword and a shield to protect Azeroth with, which he later called “Aegeus, Reaper of Twisted Vinsions” and “Cerberus, Visage of Kaleidoscope”.
Those two weapons were a deadly combination to the evil, and an honorable gift to the benevolent.
From that day forward, Aehouqlul has protected Azeroth. He was a truly remarkable being who fought for what he believed in with everything he got.
In one of his fights, he met Maiev Shadowsong, the Leader of the Watchers and the jailor of Illidan; and fell in love. Aehouqlul tried anything he could to impress her that he often acted without thinking, trying to protect her from every single threat existed; although, he never realized that these displays of power weren't quite what Maiev was looking for.
While Aehouqlul struggled to win her heart, he never realized that the battle will never be resolved, so he had asked her to choose between him and the vengeance against Illidan.
Aehouqlul wasn’t chosen, so he sworn that he will never protect anyone ever again, dropped his weapons and disappeared from Azeroth, without turning back.
The weapons were found deep in the ground exactly where Aehouqlul was last seen, with a scroll describing his words of love towards Maiev, and the promise of protection his weapons were enchanted with.

Oh well, at least I had fun, thanks for reading!

  15. Twin-Blades of The Chilling Dead

Main Hand [left] - Forzurun, Reaper of The Frigid North
Off Hand [right] - Kyrrius, Death's Persistence

    Backstory
Not all weapons of legend stems from its' grand purpose or creation. The Twin-Blades of The Chilling Dead were merely just a normal Saronite-based quickblades forged and engraved with runes by a Death Knight of the Ebon Blade to fulfill her personal vendetta. As is the usual routine, runes in a Death Knight's runeblade will need re-empowerment through infusing of the elements the rune is based around when it starts to fade and lose power. Due to their owners' proficiency in the aspect of Frost, the customized Frost runes were always favored for greater portion of power.

What the Death Knight didn't account however, was that the Blades started to develop addiction to devour even greater portion every time it needs reempowerment. Slowly, just as Death Knights eternally hungers for death, so are the blades with the frost element. The affixed runes start to twist the blades, giving it powers beyond imagination. One blade turns into a blade with dangerously sharp icy edges, becoming light enough to land precise fatal hits and weakens the enemy with the chill it brings. The other blade turns into a sturdy weapon, frozen from point to hilt, and seemingly impossible to break. It infuses its' wielder with great strength and resillience, and can manipulate the chill inflicted by its' twin to instantly freeze its' victim and the surroundings.

Wielding these weapons, while giving the wielder great power, would also endanger them as well. Even touching the weapon will make most Death Knights shiver in cold, Heavens forbid any living being trying to hold those weapons and still feels fine. As the Twin-blades' original owner finally used up all the runic power they can give, they start demanding for even more power. She would not take that risk and turn the blades into one of the greatest horrors in the already war-torn Azeroth, so she hid it away somewhere in Northrend, hoping their powers would never be invoked again.

Should one day a brave soul decides to reawaken these blades, they must first awaken the runes of Unholy, Blood and Frost engraved on the steel. After the blades are awakened, the wielder must empower it further to restore it to its former glory.... and beyond. However, the only person who knows how to do so is the one who forged it...

    Special Ability (gameplay language) :
These two are best wielded together.

Forzurun gives the wielder faster, and more precise strikes, granting hefty amount of critical strike. Each attack will cause 'Death's Chill' which slows down enemies' attack and movement by 1.5%, stacking up to 20 times. However it doesn't grant any Strength or Stamina.

Kyrrius gives the wielder the Stamina and Strength lacking in Forzurun. Whenever it hits anyone with Death's Chill, it has a chance to freeze the enemy (like Hungering Cold, except attacking doesn't unfreeze them), consuming the debuff. A shockwave of frost will then be released all around, freezing everyone else's feet in place (like Frost nova). The higher the stack, the more chance this procs

Each frost-based attacks upon the wielder has a chance to increase their strength by 10 per Blades wielded.
