I want to try out a bear tank but I rarely see any of them, most of the tanks I see are paladins or warriors, some dks. Are bears viable tanks in WOTLK? I'd appreciate your time commenting.

Yes, but mainly bis feral gear is usually contested by warriors, rogue, dk, pallys, dps ferals.
