New to WoW pvp

I played a bit on Lord and never made it to max, got myself a shaman and went enhancement on Icecrown. My question is since I just got to 80 whats the best way to get some pvp gear? I tried doing arenas and the que time is long for 2v2 and the other options don't even exist because there is no estimated wait time for 3v3 or 5v5. So I'd like to get in as much pvp as possible while working my way up to some gear. BGs are hell. Most crit for my whole healthbar. My question is, how the heck do I get good or even get started? I've been spamming Bg's since the arena que is so long and that's about the best I can do. Any suggestions?

Are you sure you're queing for Rated 2s? There is very low % of players that play practice battles.

IMO it'd be better to do Dungeons until 4k gs at least. you can buy furious gear with emblem of triumph too, so you won't get headache from bgs....
