Question about classes and viable specs for PvE

As the title sugest my question is, are there classes and specs that are not useable in raid comps, like it is in vanilla where some classes are forced in a certain role, like paladins only holy, druids 95% resto and some small chance of bear.
Does this stands for TBC or is it more like WotLK where you have more freedom with every class and most specs having chance for a raid spot.

Pretty much all are viable, just less desirable. Normal 25 man takes 3-4 tanks, 6-8 healers, 4-8 physical dps, and rest caster.
From my experience there is higher demand for rsham~warlock>mage.

5x shamans minimum in every raid.

It's nothing like Vanilla. Everyone can get a raid spot. Raid leaders are glad to have 25 people.

Depends on the raid. Not every raid is a 25-man size. But yes, you want to try and have 1 in every group within the raid.

Every raid also will want multiple Paladins, since there are something like 5 or 6 relevant Paladin raid buffs. Auras and Judgment buffs on top of that.

Priests are also mandatory; Resto Druids and Holy Priests are the primary healers, and Shadow Priests are necessary as mana batteries for healers and mana-based dps and tanks.

Druids in general are nice to have because of Innervate. I don't recall if combat res exists in TBC.

Aside from that, it's pretty much up in the air. A raid will want a large diversity to get the max number of possible raid buffs.

most specs will work well for raids.

Highly advise against ret paladin. Boomkin takes a little extra TLC to make shine as well. There are also PLENTY of enhancement shamans too.

TBC is more conservative with CD's, Global Cooldown affects more things as well.

Combat rez exists in TBC, however druids CANNOT bring players back to life otherwise without this 20m cd.

Heroics are overall not a zergfest that set a certain 'etiquette' if you will in Wotlk. More tact will be required in TBC throughout most of it's content (Aside from Ulduuar in LK comparison )
