Burning Crusade Pet Will NOT gain exp

So currently my hunter is lvl 53. I have been using a bear since level 10ish and decided to go with a ravager... done some research and went to azuremyst to get one. When i tamed him he was level 9, from this point i went to a zone equal to my hunters level to try and catch him up to me as quick as possible. he gained 5 levels pretty quick now putting him at 14... now that he had gained 5 levels his exp has completely stopped... i tried going down to zones his level to let the pet even solo kill mobs and nothing...

What can i do to fix this?
