WotLK What's the etiquette when rolling on ranged weapons in RDF etc.? Can I need?

Title.

I'm new to playing rogue and I'm just wondering if needing on ranged weapons is allowed?

I see that they are the main attacking weapon used by hunters obviously but at the same time they are also a decent gear upgrade for rogues.

For example Prison Wardens Shotgun (Agi w/ AP bonus) from VH or Trophy Gatherer (Stamina w/ Crit & Armor Pen bonus) from UP.
Can I Need on these items? Any unspoken rules?

Just wanted to clear things up. I'm not very familiar about this particular dynamic I don't want to get reported/banned if I accidently ninja.

You can roll on ranged that give stats for you. You can also pass and let hunter have it, if you want.

Ask yourself if a hunter would decide not to roll on a polearm or whatever upgrade so a random guy can have it. 99 times out of 100 he won't.

If it's for your class/spec and is an upgrade, rolling need on it in dungeons is fair game.
