Transmogrification of non class items?

Mostly concerned about weapons. Just wondering as 1 and 2 handed weapons can be transmogged as different categories (swords into axes etc) can this be applied to weapons that aren't normally used by your class? (Druid mace onto sword or dk axe I to fist weapon) I'm playing on lordaeron and a slow leveler so it's just something to look take ino account when planning transmog sets.

Clarification. Can someone appear to use a weapon that their class would otherwise not be able to use?
