Burning Crusade Faction Change Questions

I play on the warmane outlands server and have some questions about the faction change.

1. I know there is a faction imbalance and I play alliance. Can I still change to horde for 0 coins?

2. When it comes to gear and gold does that as well get transfered over to my new horde character?

3. Do riding skills get transfered over?

4. Are there any downsides to faction changes? Can my character get lost?

I know i'm a noob so please don't hate! Thanks!
