Trading without inventory?

I can't seem to find any information on what happens to the inventory of a character when I sell it?

I would love to sell my character for cheap, but that would means I have to take off all the characters gear. If it's just lost forever when I trade it, that would kinda strange.

I _could_ sell it and score the gold, but really, what happens to the inventory of a character with no equipped items, when I trade him without items in the store?

But if your charcter get back to you because no one buy it then it will still have inventory
