Honestly if you just show up to raids consistently and don't cuck out and stop showing up when things get hard, then you'll get a raid spot somewhere. I'm inclined to say that raid guilds have plenty of tanks - though it doesn't hurt to be able to tank your own dungeons even if you main a dps spec.
