Fishing add on

Just spent two hours trying to make fishing less of an ordeal. Tried changing the sound files so I could actually hear bites, but for some reason replacing the sound files (with ogg OR wav simply has no effect, or at best disables the sound), and every add on, like fishing buddy. simply does not work at all. Made sure I had the proper version for the client, and tried several variaties. Have had no luck making fishing not suck.

I have several other addons I have downloaded running just fine, so i am not entirely clueless, and have tried disabling them in case of conflicts. And again, nothing.

What do you folks use for fishing add ons?
