1. What is the difference?

I see Icecrown has a massive population comparatively to this server. What is the difference between the two that created this change? Just the timetable of release?

  2. Its always shop vs no shop. And the shop one is always more populated.

Lordaeron is a 1x hardcore server meaning raids are buffed to make the challenging. No shop

Icecrown is a high rate server with a shop.

  3. Also worth to mention, Lordaeron doesnt have RDF nor Heirlooms enabled.

  4. Its because in Icecrown you level up 7 times faster, x1 leveling rate is too slow for casuals and they all want to reach 80 fast.
This must be the only reason for Icecrown to have more players than Lordaeron, because, like the posters above me have said, lordaeron has the best settings.
RDF sucks so its better disabled, heirlooms are like free gear given out every level, in Lordaeron if you want gear you do dungeon. Raids here are more interesting, players have a sense of progression because its not really easy to clear raid in day 1, in Icecrown players do raids to farm Scroll of Deception so they can play dress-up game with their characters.
While leveling rate in Icecrown is x7, gold rate is x3, meaning you level up faster and farm less gold along the way and your gear becomes bad very fast, which causes a bigger percentage of players to beg for gold in cities like stormwind and orgrimmar, Icecrown has 12k players online all the time so imagine how many beggers.
Leveling rates of x7 attracts people with no time (right? they have no time to level up in x1), so they also have no time to progress and farm gear. But Icecrown has coin shop, allowing players to buy whatever they want for real money and skip progression. Shop provides instant lvl 80, full professions, best gear available (including legendaries), mounts, and other things. Some things are even only obtainable through shop aswell, making Icecrown a pay-to-win server.
In lordaeron you look at a geared player with shiny weapon and all, and you think "wow that player is good", in Icecrown if you see same player you think "wow that player has money to burn".
Also, because of the amount of players in Icecrown and the easiness of it, there is a bigger percentage of players who just want to make your gaming experience a nightmare, because nothing is going to happend to them. Some people there even say that making players leave the server is what Icecrown really needs. In lordaeron we value every member of our comunity and we will help you fit in.

  5. The above post should be pinned somewhere

  6. If you have work and can not afford 8 hours per day in the game - roll Icecrown.
If you are pve nerd who has nothing to do but experience x1 leveling and timewaste for dungeon group - roll Lordaeron.

Also note, Lordaeron pvp is completely dead compare to Icecrown, so if you roll Lordaeron for pvp purpose - you will be disappointed.

  7. Sorry but I'll have to come and defend Icecrown here. Casuals make the majority of any game's playerbase. Can you imagine a world where 100% of all gamers were hardcore? It's totally normal for Icecrown>Lordaeron and Outland>Medivh in terms of population. This doesn't mean that the latter are "worse", they're just not favoured by casuals - that's all. And there's nothing bad in that, if you think about it from the point of view of a hardcore gamer.

The rates, the shop, the heirlooms, the nerfed PvE values, and RDF are all "casual" features.

  8. What with people resurrecting years old threads lately?
