1. so I just dinged 70, what do I do? (PvP topic)

    hiya!

I just dinged 70, first time playing disc priest. It's pretty fun to play on BGs, but so frustrating at the same time, since I'm totally undergeared.
What do I do? How do I get some decent starting gear? should I just farm BGs, hop into arena, or are there any other ways?

    thanks in advance

  2. Yes, I would run some instances for decent gear. Run bg's for the marks and honor off peaces. I would also do some arenas even if you lose all 10 games for some points.

  3. You should start doing quests for pre-raid BiS gear (google a guide or a spreadsheet for that), then Kara attunement + some Normals, then Kara + HCs. All the while you should be working on your professions too, as they can pretty much give you BiS gear pre-T5.

  4. should I go holy/shadow for dungeons? or disc PvP build is viable?

  5. You'll want to take advantage of the dual spec feature on the website for dungeons/raids. Disc takes a back seat vs the other specs in PvE.

  6. You can heal ok with Disc in regular dungeons but I would look into switching to holy for heroics. Simply because pvp spec is lacking some pve skills that are needed.

And holy is better then disc in pve.

  7. You can likely choose your preference between Holy & Shadow for running instances. You'll get groups faster as holy, given the typical lack of healers and tanks (currently, tanks are moreso the bottleneck in the general PUG community, so you may still have some waiting to do). However, you'll quest far faster as shadow. I don't know that it overly matters whether you pick up gear from questing or from instances, if your goal is to pvp. Mostly your goal initially will be to just get some gear with decent stam, int, and spell/healing power (moreso than level 58 greens can offer).

If you go the instance route (or tailor your questing to certain faction's quests), then at Honored level for each of the outland factions, you can obtain starter PVP gear.

    • *Hands - Lower City (AuchCrypts, Sethekk Halls, Shadow lab)
*Head - Sha'tar (Botanica, Mechanar, Arcatraz)
*Legs - Keepers of Time (Durnholde, Black Morass)
*Chest - Thrallmar/Honor Hold (Ramparts, Blood Furnace, Shat Halls)
*Shoulders - Cenarion Expedition (Slave Pens, Underbog, Steam Vaults)

It might take you about 10-15 runs of instances (purely based on reputation from mob/boss kills) to reach Honored and have those items purchasable.

Once you have a full set of level 65+ gear, preferably some nice sturdy blues, then you can start to contribute in BGs (you are, of course, able to join them whenver you wish...but you'll be stomped flat as you've experienced). Little by little you can build up honor and marks to obtain some basic pvp gear, and things will get better.

Setting up your account to have dual spec (via the My Account > Services > [choose your character] > [Dual Specialisations] (4th tab)) will mean that you can swap between PVE and PVP with moderate ease and no cost (beyond an initial 100g). It's not fast, but it will allow you to run instances weeknights, and easily swap to pvp for weekends. It can be done 'on the spot', but takes a couple of minutes to log, swap the spec, then log back on. Just wanted to forwarn you that it is not as swift as the client-based dual spec systems of later expansions.

  8. Thanks for thorough answer! Have a good one :)

  9. Please note that I've made a small mistake in that those Reputation PvP sets are not yet available at vendors.

Originally in retail, they came available with Patch 2.4.0, I believe. Warmane is likely keeping these unavailable until Sunwell Plateau releases on the Outland server.

Still might not hurt to pre-plan and work on the reputations though.
