    Hi !

BIS list are available on "optimization" section of each spec. (ie. https://sites.google.com/site/pvemag...e/optimization )

    See you,

  3. Ah thanks, Im dumb sry. WOuld be better, if you could link the BiS gear to a database site like wowhead or something. but anyway, awesome work.

  4. Is muradin spyglass better trinket than Flare of the heaens?

  5. On which spec ?

I'll assume you are concern about Fire specs

    Let's do some maths:

Flare of the heavens : 120 cc + 850sp proc. The Icd (internal cooldown) of the proc is 45sec. 10% proc rate. The spell trigger on harmfull spells which means it can be on each and every dot of direct damage you are doing. Mage aproximatly deal damages every 0.9sec. And faster during CD's such as Engineers Gloves and/or Heroism. Theses infos gives an spell power effectiness of 157.4 or more (depending on your hast) (formula : E = 850 * 10 / (45 + (0.9/ 0.1)) )
    Source : https://wowwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Flare_of_the_Heavens

    Muradin's Spyglass : 131 cc + 18sp*10

    Muradin's Spyglass hc: 152 cc + 20sp*10

    So on paper :

Flare of heavens < Muradin's Spyblass < Muradin's Spyglass hc

Muradin's Spyglass have +11cc and +23sp than Flare of the Heavens

Muradin's Spyglass hc have 32 cc + 69sp than Flare of the Heavens

Let do a twist on that statistical point of view :

Considering the info that Fire mage are playing with the spell Combustion, they will be able to earn more benefit from a proc then a constant buff

Keep in mind that Combustion over than increasing crit chance it give 50% additionnal damages to your crit damages

    For Muradin HC :
So the differential of damage between a 200SP and a 850SP under combustion is : +650*50% = 325damages. Combustion buff occurs on 3 spells. Meanwhile the CD of combustion is 2 min and the icd of the flare is 45sec, it mean with a good tempo you can have a combustion every 6 min buffed by the proc (it's a benefit 1 time out of 8 procs of the flare). So the spell benefit of the trinket move up to : 850 + (3*(325/8)) = 971.875 ~ 972sp

And let apply again the formula shown above : 179.9

Conclusion : Muradin's Spyglass hc have +32cc and +20sp than Flare of the heavens ; for mage fire mage using wisely his combution.

    For Muradin NM:
So the differential of damage between a 180SP and a 850SP under combustion is : +670*50% = 335damages. So the spell benefit of the trinket move up to : 850 + (3*(335/8)) = 975.625 ~ 976sp

And let apply again the formula shown above : 180.67

Conclusion : Muradin's Spyglass nm have +11cc and and -1sp than Flare of the heavens ; for mage fire mage using wisely his combution.

So my point of view : Muradin's Spyglass HC is better than Flare of the Heavens with no doubts.

But concerning the normal version of the Muradin's Spyglass, they are way closer in terms of SP and "only" at 11 cc differential. For an experienced player which is engineer and raid with a good comp (totems which are giving haste, heroism etc), I will advice to take the bet and try to drain the maximum powerness out of the Flare of the heavens. It's will be my choice it' can be way more rewarding but it's risky, if you fail using combustion and every hast advantages you can get at the right time, it will be a lost to run with the Flare of the Heavens over the Muradin's Spyglass NM

I hope you will have a better overview of the things which can come into consideration when you are choosing a trinket :)

    See you,

    Tiny

Note : the statistics about damage gain from combustion assume that combustion benefit to fireballs (fireball have a 100% spell power coefficient)

  6. Hi, will there be any possibility in the future to see the frost talent developed, as you did for fire and arcane? I mean with the subdirectories "rotation, survivability, macros, etc."? Thanks

  7. Thanks a lot for thorough explanation, it helps me a lot! :)

One more question I couldn't find on forum is, when is not getting socketbonus from an item worth it? For example, you have 23 SP on your gloves instead of 12sp10spirit. I have like 400 spirit at this point, kinda choking in it.

    Thanks in advance!

It's not worth to socket when items have 1 blue socket or blue+yellow, any other combination is worth going for bonus. But if you're lower geared, I suggest going for 23SP on all sockets unless bonus will give you more SP strictly because at lower gear SP>Crit more than on higher gear

    Hi MisterUnknown

I would love to do it. But unfortunally I don't have enough experience in that specialisation. And I am neither playing enough currently and neither in a structure which accept raiding with a member with a non-competitive spec to improve my knowleadge of that spec. So it's a no for now, it may change, but not in a near futur.

    Sorry for the disapoinment...

Slight necro. I wanted to comment on frost levelling/frost spec. The major reason for choosing this spec while levelling will be your single target snares, for sure. But, I do see a lot of mages missing out on a talent which can basically double your DPS while RDFing and will also (depending how many points you want to spec) be able to let you do some aoe farming as well.

Of course, I’m talking about improved blizzard. Improved blizzard adds a chilling effect to your blizzard, meaning it can then proc fingers of frost.

Something which may not be known on this sub is that fingers of frost with this chill effect will have a chance to proc per blizzard shard, not per blizzard cast. Further, the effect begins instantly without using a fingers of frost proc. The procs are also not used per blizzard shard, but per blizzard cast, thought the crit chance is added per shard. So, spec a single point in this and crit almost every blizzard. Want to get a fingers of frost proc to cast deep freeze on the boss, and there’s adds? Cast a blizzard and wait for a couple seconds.

This spec is still horrible single target. in RDF, and I still don’t think it’s viable endgame. But, take two mages, one with a single point in improved blizzard and one without at any level sub 80 frost spec, and the one with a single point will double their damage output.

If you want to see some good dps numbers as a levelling mage, this is a must have. Whenever I am levelling a mage, I run recount in all of my dungeons. Whenever I am beating another mage in DPS, I check their spec, and 100% of the time they either specced into something other than frost, or they didn’t take this point.

I've started to play mage recently and this guide is truly amazing: it has given me many tips on how to improve my gameplay with this class, so thank you very much Tiny and all contributors.
However there are still a couple of points which are not clear to me:

    1) Improved Scorch tooltip says "Increases your chance to critically hit with Scorch, Fireball and Frostfire Bolt by an additional 3%"
From what i read, it seems to give +3% crit buff on Fireball, other than the +5% spell crit debuff of warlocks, so why it's better to let a warlock use it on boss, losing the opportunity on the +3% Fireball crits?
    2) What is the main difference on using Black Magic weapon enchant over the +63 SP enchant? In which way Black Magic can be superior?

    Thanks.

    1) 3% critical chance for fireball is passive, and it's always present. it is what talent gives you. Casting Scorch will give extra 5% raidwide.
    2) 63 SP constant is superior to cca 70 average haste + the enchant can proc in the wrong time and it mainly increases Fireball DPS only, doesn't help Pyroblast at all and has only little effect on other instant cast spells. It can be a better option only if you're too low on haste (less than 20%, cca <650 haste) and already have decent Spell Power.

Having read through the guide a couple of times(which is excellent I have to say), I'm still looking for more clarity on priority..

When it comes to maximising the the two piece tier ten bonus, do we ignore living bomb refresh until the bonus is exhausted?

Then if another HS proc lands, do we LB, FB, Pyro, then continue with the FB spam during Pushing the Limit?

  14. Hi there! it is an excellent guide, doing so much good for all mages around here. However the link no longer works!. Can the web-site be broight back to life or, alternatively, can its materials be reposted on warmane forum to preserve your legacy :D

  15. Hi,
I switched the site on the new look gived by google, it still work but it may requiert an authentification i am looking forward to disable the functionnality
