Bg weekends do work, however I am not sure if bonuses do work correctly.
What honor bonuses during bg weekends we should get:
AV: Map complete - 80 bonus honor(0 on non weekends).
WSG: Map complete - 80 bonus honor(40 on non weekends); Win - 60 bonus honor(20 on non weekends).
AB and EOTS: 20 bonus honor per 200 resources(20 bonus honor per 330 resources on non weekends).
So it's not some big bonuses or double honor as someone mentioned, but it's something. There are also rep bonuses, which I didn't include, because idgaf about them right now.

Yes, this is the main thing people don't seem to understand is that it's not just double honor, its just slight bonus honor for certain objectives being met (such as finishing a game or winning). These bonuses were also in place before even when it wasn't that BG's weekend, so it might seem now like the values are very low. http://wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/Battlegrounds_holiday

Currently the losing team gets 0 honor when bg ends.
As mentioned here http://www.tentonhammer.com/guides/b...or-bonus-guide,
"Finish the game (win or lose)" awards both sides with honor.
