1. Engineering specialization quest

    Hello and Happy new Year.

Im trying to finish leveling my engineering, and I want to choose a specialization. Now, Im no gnomish or goblin engineer, yet Im not given any quest from the trainers that should.

I took the quest a while ago for gnomish, in Ironforge, but had to abandon because my quest log was full to finish my way to lvl 70.

And now, lvl 70 and engi 370, these NPCs give me no quest to retake the mission and be able to craft awesome gnomish stuff. Checked guides to see if i missed a step, asked people, searched the forum but found no solution to my problem.

    Help?

  2. Hi, new year to you too.

Do you remember the name of the quest that you abandoned? Can you confirm in your "Abilities Book" Gnomish Engineering is displayed or not?

To become Gnomish Engineer, you can take the starting quest from both IronForge and StormWind. More info on the link below:

    Hope that helps.

  3. Hi again, here a screenshot,

As you see, I have no specialization active. Im hovering Springspindle Fizzlegear with my mouse although the cursor doesnt appear, who gave me the first quest you linked, and he doesnt show anything else.

I show the questlog too to show I have no quest about engineering. I tried to interact with him with the required mats for the turn-in, but nothing changes.

I remember abandoning this same quest in live for the same reason, but when I went back to this gnome he had the quest available to retake again, so thats why Im unsure as how to proceed. I am though, 100% sure I didnt complete this quest.

    Thanks in advance

  4. oh and indeed, my spellbook doesnt show any other than standard engineering

page 2 is just throw and stoneform

  5. Okay I found some information:
Okay, since there seems to be a lot of confusion about how to spec into Gnomish/Goblin Engineering AFTER you have unlearned engineering and pick it up again, heres how it goes.

You must level your Engineering Skill up to 225.
When you have made your decision, go to Tanaris and head east out of Gadgetzan.
When you reach "Steamwheedle Port" head north, and just outside of town there is a small hut,
kind of 'magical' looking, inside you will find a Gnome, wearing a purple turban and a table with a book on top of it.
Right click on the book "Soothesaying for Dummies" and select one of the two options.
    (something along the lines of..)
    1. "I am absolutely sure I wish to specialize in Goblin Engineering."
    2. "I am absolutely sure I wish to specialize in Gnomish Engineering."
You will see a message saying "You have learned a new skill: (Gnomish/Goblin) Engineering

    Done!

    Happy Trails,

  6. Negative, book offers no option at all :/ Did I stumble upon a bug?

  7. Have you tried Stormwind NPC too? Location shown in this link: http://www.wowhead.com/quest=29477/gnomish-engineering

If even that fails then yes it could be something solvable by GMs only.

By the way, in the picture of that "Book" that you shared, I can see you can scroll down on the description. What's down there??? Or it's just an addon adding a scroll bar?

  8. Yeah sir, I dont want to sound pedantic or anything, but I opened this thread because no solution I found on google, fixed my problem, and I had been digging back to year 2009. I always try to fix stuff on my own, theres usually a workaround or something that allows to go on, but this matter has taken me a week already.
So, I talked with all the engineering related npcs (alliance and neutral, I dont know why I think I wouldnt be welcome ir Orgrimmar :D ), checked for low lvl quests hovering them just in case, even showed with the mats required for the turn-in of the quest and nothing.
And yes indeed, thats just elvUI that adds a scroll bar by default.

Anyway, I think Ill have to open a ticket, cause no way Im grinding engineering again, definitely not after the squish. I thank you very much for your efforts

  9. BLOODY HELL GOT IT AT LAST

Im really stupid. Well not really, I was missing a step, Springspindle Fizzlegear is the gnome in IF that will reward you with the specialization spell after you turn in the mats.

BUT, first you need to talk with his pal Tinkmaster Overspark (5m away from Fizzlegear...just not in the same room) and sign a pledge of secrecy, after Fizzlegear has asked you "which do you want". THEN, you will be given the quest to turn in the mithril tubes and stuff.

Boy I feel dumb now, but a happy dumb person. How did I find the problem? Desperately talking with every gnome I could find, starting from that room in Ironforge. Luckily I didnt need to go far. Ifonly this came to me sooner!

I used this way to recover my goblin engineering after unlearning the profession and it worked.
    Thank you for posting it.
