Yes such data is not instantly saved on your character file.
That is actually a feature of online gaming and one major feature of blizzards wow, that keeps you connected for minutes if your connection is sometimes actually broken. The downside of that concept is that some data gets lost sometimes. Get over it - enjoy when your connection brakes for a minute but your still in the raid you where, when it connects back.
