Probably because the levelling speed is so fast that players won't buy those items anyways and it would be a waste of the staff's time

It is also important to mention that items >80 level are most likely to be used for transmog purposes. If you could get any item >80 level for points there would be no point in farming old content.

people used to buy vote point gear on their level 5 hunter witch scaled INSANE with their level (since lower levels gains more stats from gears and some gear on higher level don't even require certain level to equip the item) so they could camp STV with their level 5 hunter and camp level 80's, true story.

While they can still enjoy Vanilla and TBC content regardless of point shop, let them switch to TBC realm.
What use of vote points do we have, than? The only use is when you level up to 80, which you're gonna replace anytime soon. So it's just a matter of time when is point shop going to be utterly useless, unless it meets a reasonable change.

That was becase there were quest reward items in vote shop. Any level character could use an item without level restrictions. No one spoke about those.

Edit: That's also an awful excuse, don't let them get geared via point shop, so they don't gank higher levels, hahaha! They could've logged an 80 to gank you anyway, right? They could never be a match to a proper geared 80, which eventually you were going to log because someone ganked you, regardless of his level.
I think it's because it doesn't look Blizzlike, low levels having fun ganking higher levels.
